At first I thought it was a foul against Argentina being called which is somewhat understandable but why stop play after a goal was scored ffs? Fcking Reflivia.

Honestly that ref was bad all around today...not just at that point.

he blew his whistle thinking Higuain wasn't gonna score the goal from there.. I don't blame him.

I don't think he should do that though...I mean Higuain was in space(nobody was around him) and the ball was clearly going towards him. I think he just called the foul in the moment, was not even thinking about playing an advantage. Most referees would not blow right away in that position considering that the ball went straight to Higuain.

And wait, he thought Higuain wasn't going to score? Higuain was pretty much one v one ffs, how can think that?

I just think its very very poor refereeing.

That's just it.

Unless it's in the penalty area, with no one around who can take advantage and follow up and just easily score, if the team is in that area of the pitch, just wait an extra half second more than typical to see if there is any advantage. That way you avoid errors like this one.

It's just bad refereeing. It would be awesome if a ref could be like, "woops i blew the whistle too quick, here just have the legit goal" but if you mess up you mess up and you gotta follow it up correctly otherwise your an even worse ref.

Reffing is such a hard and thankless job. I don't even know why I do it, much less these guys.

I agree. Although Messi was clearly fouled, Higuain was also clearly through on goal in that situation, so playing advantage was pretty much the only smart decision IMO.

The referee's decision for Higuain's second "goal," was also dubious. It seemed to me that both players went for the ball and there wasn't much contact at all.

Overall, Bolivia played very well defensively (nearly all their players were in their own half, though) and Argentina weren't very comfortable in creating chances, especially since Messi was well below par. However, if Argentina went into half-time with a two-goal lead, they could not have lost or drawn IMO.

if argentina was any good, they wouldnt have to rely on such goals against a team like bolivia...

The refs were Boliviano. Not only they dissallowed that perfectly good goal, but they dissallowed two other goals, that were 50/50 offsides. Also the ref kept distrupting the flow of game calling every little foul, yet he didn't give yellows at all. All that were music to Bolivians.
