Giaccherini: ‘We cannot take a break’
Emanuele Giaccherini has declared that even through the international break Juventus are working hard to maintain their positive start to the season.
Aiming to return to full fitness following a spell on the sidelines through injury, the diminutive attacking winger was involved in the Turin club’s friendly on Thursday afternoon against local side Savona.
After performing well in the game and scoring the side’s final goal in a 4-0 win, Giaccherini told Juve’s official site of his ambitions to return as soon as possible to first-team action.
“After being out through injury it’s been important to play at a good pace, even if it’s just in a friendly.
“Of course, it’s not the same intensity of a game with three points up for grabs, but these tests are still extremely valuable, because they let you get minutes under your belt, and help you to put the manager’s ideas into practice.
“The championship may have taken a break, but we haven’t. We can’t allow that to happen, especially at this positive moment.”
Giaccherini took a positive spin on training with the club whilst a number of his teammates are away on international duty.
“[It] indicates the strength of the squad, and it’s also satisfying for people like me who share the dressing room with them - if I’m fortunate enough to play for a team with many fine players it’s because I’ve also got the quality.”
The former Cesena star was then asked if that translated to ambition to play for the national team.
“I honestly don’t think about it, Everything I’ve achieved in my career has come thanks to hard work and determination, therefore I just focus on my daily work. If this also brings important personal goals, even better.”
