Re: November International Break
i am really worried that we are getting too reliant on RVP.

Re: November International Break
When a player of his quality is performing on a game-by-game basis, it's difficult not to become reliant upon him. And that certainly was the case a few weeks ago.
But as games go by, the other players are contributing more. Against West Brom, for example, everybody played well and we had three different goalscorers. Before that against Chelsea, though van Persie scored a hat-trick, the stars of the show were Koscielny and Ramsey.
Still, our best players have to be fit and firing if we want to get anyway, and too often now has van Persie come back injured. So for him to still be fit at this point is great news.

Watching it now. 43mins in he has been very good. Alitodore is a hand-full, as you will remember from his Hull days, but Koscielny marking him well.
Maybe though, a bit lucky not to have given away a penalty so far when Altidore turned him.

Re: November International Break
Walcott played 45 minutes and did well, given the circumstances. England couldn't get out of their own half and Walcott was required to do a lot of defensive work. Bar one moment where he didn't track Alba, he stuck to the task.
Offensively, he got England up the pitch and won a couple of free-kicks. Was probably knackered at half-time, hence the subsitution.
I imagine he'll start on Tuesday against Sweden.

Re: November International Break
It was a positive step towards the Euros. Start playing the Kids more and start benching/kicking out the so called " golden generation" players
With Wilshere coming back and the likes of Agbonlahor improving. It can be different this time

Re: November International Break
God knows how England won. Spain dominated but their friendly record is poor in the last year.
Walcott did okay on the right, but received the ball very rarely. Played the first half.
Ramsey did well for Wales earlier.
Updating first post.

Re: November International Break
Here's how England won:
Span had 21 shots, but 2 on target.
As Arsenal fans should know all too well. Posession does not mean mean goals. Spain had all the ball but couldn't carve out many clear cut opportunities. England defended well and got a goal from a set-piece.

Re: November International Break
Spain were so uncreative. Only 2 shots on target from 21 says it all.
Honestly, never looked in control of the game. Only started to perform after Capello made all 6 changes.
Ramos should have gotten a red as well. Such an uninspired performance by Spain.

Re: November International Break
Should be remembered Barcelona players had a tough game on Wednesday to lower league side in Spanish cup and they were recently hammered by Portugal and Argentina.
England got rub of the green when a set-piece hit post and fell to Lampard.
Villa was unlucky with his effort which smashed the post.

Re: November International Break
So England were lucky to hit the post, but Spain were unlucky to hit it?
Spain have lost all their big matches after the WC: Portugal 4-0, Argentina 4-1, Italy 2-1, England 1-0.
Not a sign of a good team tbh. They weren't even convincing in the WC. Such an overrated team tbh.

Friendly or competitive game, lucky or unlucky... I don't really care. It's been a while since I've seen England beat someone who's actually good and I'm going to enjoy it while I can.
