Arsenal v West Brom
Arsenal v West Brom, Saturday 5th November, 3pm, Premier League, Emirates Stadium
Robin van Persie and Gervinho celebrate after the Dutchman's 2nd goal at the Bridge last weekend
Arsenal looking to continue great league form
Following the amazing 5-3 win against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last Saturday, Arsenal have now won 4 of their last 5 league games. It's an indication that Arsene Wenger's side are heading in the right direction again after a woeful start to the campaign. Robin van Persie's form up front for the gunners has been quite sensational, but there are other members of the squad who are helping to make this turn-around in form happen. Ivorian winger Gervinho has had a good start to his career at the club; scoring 2 and assisting 4 in 7 league games. Aaron Ramsey, after a quiet start to the season is starting to show the form he showed before his injury, whilst Alex Song has got better and better in the last month.
West Brom looking for another shock win
In this fixture last season, West Brom came away 3-2 winners at the Emirates. Under former manager Roberto Di Matteo, the baggies were 3-0 up after 73 minutes before Samir Nasri scored twice late on to make the scoreline slightly more respectable. Manuel Almunia also saved a penalty that day, but was at fault for two goals. Sebastian Squillaci and Emmanuel Eboue had forgettable performances on that afternoon too. That result put West Brom 5th in the Premier League, though they would go on to finish 11th under new coach Roy Hodgson. Hodgson saw his side lose 2-0 to Liverpool last weekend, accompanied with an awful performance.

Arsene Wenger
"If we are in a very strong position in December then we have a good chance. By then, we will have played Man City away, Tottenham away, Chelsea away, Man United away and they all come to the Emirates after Christmas. For us to be in a strong position at that stage would be very important. Nobody is guaranteed to be in the top four after 10 games. Nobody has enough knowledge to completely say who will finish in the top four. If you look historically we are not too bad [at being] in there. Let's just let everybody else talk and we will play. If we play better and better then we will have a chance."
Roy Hodgson
"Are Arsenal back? Have they ever been away? Where did they go? There was all the stuff about Arsene being under the spotlight and pressure. I think all managers at this level will accept they come under the spotlight and pressure if your team isn't winning as many games as people would like to see you win. But I would find it very hard to believe if Arsenal FC were considering Wenger's future because for the last 15 years he has done a fantastic job.He has proved himself to be one of the best managers in the world."
Prediction
Arsenal must continue their good form. We can't not afford to slip up in such games like we did last season. We have momentum with us whilst West Brom lost their last game v Liverpool without ever getting going. If Gervinho, Van Persie + co are on form then we should be ok, particularly with Vermaelen back in defence now. I fully expect to win this game.

400th league win. Nothing lesser would do. And some retribution for the last year's match along the way?

When is Abou Diaby ever fit? He truly fits the definition of dead wood.

** Van Persie could start on Saturday
** Diaby still three weeks from fitness
** Wenger - Away form hasn't been good enough
** 'Sir Alex Ferguson's achievements are remarkable'
** Wenger - We can't afford to be complacent
** Wenger - Too early to draw top-four conclusions
** Wenger - Manuel Almunia did well on loan
** Wenger - We must improve defensive record

You remember the last time he played lol I still don't remember when that was. If Diaby miss any more games this he must be sold ASAP.

Thats the thing he is a great player with a lot of expectation I just don't get why he is always injure he don't play that much.
I really think if he can stay healthy he is one of the missing pieces for Arsenal.

Re: Arsenal v West Brom
Important we keep winning, always nice to win before the international break too.
Re: Arsenal v West Brom
if odemwingie is doubt for this one i have no idea how they will set up
not sure if they field tchoy as a lone striker cause he is better when he has partner so the dou creating space for each other
their wide players from few times that i have seen tend to tuck in and play narrow to make life hard for even 3 man midfield (dunno if that will be plan for tomorrow)
their narrow shape force opponent backline to play narrow too and makes space for tchoyi near touchline so our wide players should be wary of tchoyi runs when he drifts in to the flanks(if he starts)
so in that case i would have Rosicky start in one flank to help us maintain possession

Re: Arsenal v West Brom
PL match straight after the CL.. egh
I dont think we should expect an energetic performance by the team. If we score a goal early on, the pace will be extremely slow.
That is what we should avoid, 1 goal is never enough with Arsenal, 2 is The minimum and 3 should be the ideal.
In terms of individual performance and tactics. I think we will see rotation, Heard Oxlade might be involved. Arshavin n Benayoun are in contention so we might see Theo/Gervinho on the bench. Maybe Rosicky might start for Ramsey who looked tired.
However with the International break coming in, Might as well play a full strength team.
I expect a win, and lets hope a Clean sheet comes with it
