With tricks like he has, it would be a travesty for Santos to sit back and try to defend 
Mertesacker was actually good bar the goals, which makes it even stranger that he was the one at fault for them, and Arteta is just a consistent passer and tackler who keeps our game going fluently without standing out.
Still, nobody has replaced Cesc, but honestly if Wenger hadn't gone on his spending spree we'd be utterly *bleep*

We're slowly becoming better as an overall unit, not relying totally on Fabregas for assists, which IMO, is much better.

marte has been decent not bad at all
santos is getting used to epl, and in 2nd half was better defensively.
arteta wasn't bad but of cause not even close to cesc, but honestly there was no one available out there that is even close to cesc level anyway.
