Arsenal Academy
Barazite and Nordtveit . I really dont know why Wenger let them go, they always impressed me in pre season.
Overrall
Quaresma, Anderson(18m flop) and Robinho (next Pele)
Oh, speaking of bad decisions in transfers, check Rafa's records.

Anelka... surprised no one has mentioned him. Upuntill he joined Chelsea (where he somewhat revived a shit career), he was just a journeyman striker that played and failed at big clubs
Djibril Cisse....Understood what it meant to be a liverpool player, loved the club, wanted to become a club legend, PRODUCED GOALS,
one of my favorite strikers of the mid 2000s... another *bleep* from Rafa

The thing about Denilson was that he always looked to do the spectacular. He is prolly one of the top 2 dribblers I've ever seen, but like I said his bad decision making (aka selfishness) cost him.Ganso wrote:
hum, never got to see him play but i have heard nothing but praise towards him.(bar flopping in the 1998 WC final)
i also always remember this vid when denilson comes up
If you think R9 lived up to potential you didn't watch him in 97/98, the man was a god who showed the potential to surpass the term football God. Then came the injuries...aford92 wrote:
For me R9 is the best ever. If that's not fulfilling potential then I don't know what is.

Robinho got overrated by the European media, not even the most naive Santos fan would call him the new pele.he wasn't even the best player in Santos when he played here

Diego Ribas was way more vital. Who also happens to be another wasted talent. It's amazing how stepovers can brainwash fools.

This thread is and will be filled with Brazilian overrated kids before and after going to Europe.
Neymar for 50m is an example.

Robert Acquafresca comes to mind.....Davide Lanzafame, Raffaele Palladino, Stefano Okaka, Fabiano Santacroce also sprang to mind after that.

Ronaldo 9 (As great as he was after the first injury he never played at more than 50% of what his potential eluded to...)
Dinho (If only he took better care of himself)
Lebohang Mokoena (South Africans will know that this is one of the great sporting wastes. Too much too soon, Cheese Boy could of been the man to lead us forward...)
In red definitely, i thought this guy was going to be amazing!!
I have to agree with what you said about R9, he was amazing i think one of the best players i have ever watched!!! But like you said at barcelona and inter before the injury he was godlike, would have surpassed pele and maradona in everyone eyes! In my eyes was better but only because i didnt see the others play!

R9 is regarded as one of the best ever. And dinho???? 2 consecutive POTYs, a UCL and a WC? He had a great fulfilling career.Shamirr wrote:Ricardo Quaresma

Nabil Elzhar.
voted 2nd best player in u-19 wc in 2005 after Messi.
finally realizing the potential Rafa saw in him and is leading Levante to La Liga glory

Hleb was great but fell off the map as expected when he made a stupid mistake and ditched us for barca when we needed him.
Rosicky was an awesome player but he has yet to rediscover that form he had before his injury. I am optimistic about him still as he still shows glimpses at times. I still like him because I have not forgotten what he is capable of.
For Arsenal I would say Eduardo. Mostly not his fault though but man, the guy was probably the best finisher in the EPL before that nasty injury. He was incredible. When his leg broke, our season broke with it

Quaresma wins this thread for me: ultra-skilled, but seems mentally unstable and not an intelligent player.

R9 for me. After his forst injury he was never the same. For a player oi his talent and abilities, he shouild have done a lot more. His potential was probably the biggest in the 90s
