Recoba, I fear Pato may become Recoba 2.0.

Joaquin. He was amazing with Betis, never really reached his true level when he went to Valencia.
Mendieta at Barca as well.

Re: Wasted Talents/Potential
José Sosa, always rotting on the Bayern bench. Breno, similar although mostly due to injuries.
A slew of goalkeeping talent in Germany, due to excessive ammount of class. At least most teams have a class one, but then we have guys like Butt on the bench.
Gago, Granero, Afellay and those talents that were wasted on the bench.

Javier Saviola.
Never quite happened for him at Madrid or Barca, but he's done well enough for himself at Benfica.

For a good period there, any CB Madrid signed that looked like a world beater just lost all their ability once they joined us. Too many names to mention...

I wouldn't call Harry a wasted talent. He's considered by many as the greatest socceroo ever however if not for injuries he could've been even betterGyansDancingBoots wrote:Harry Kewell

Re: Wasted Talents/Potential
Does anyone remember Savio? He spent some time at Real Madrid and every time I saw him, I thought he had one of the best left foot I've ever seen (similar to Recoba), he just had glass ankles.
Another name that springs up is Sebastien Diesler. Personally, one of the most naturally gifted Germans of his age group at the time. Never really fulfilled his potential, I think he just was cursed with a frail body.
Of course, this can't be complete without me mentioning 2 Argentinians that I really truly believe did not fulfill their awesome talent: Andres D'Allesandro and Ariel Ortega particularly the latter. My goodness, he was good, like really really really good (all my opinion of course)...

If you think R9 lived up to potential you didn't watch him in 97/98, the man was a god who showed the potential to surpass the term football God. Then came the injuries...
I've watched more videos of R9 than any other footballer, my point was that you can't be better than the best ever, he reached the peak.

While we are on the subject of heart's ending players careers......
May i move this into the tragicness of Antonio Puerta if that awful case never happened he would be starting for Spain and would have been a world champion

Matias Fernandez & Carlos Villanueva.
Both made terrible decisions joining Villarreal and Blackburn.
