Maybe this is the true Brazil NT
Haven't seen Brazil play truly beautiful football for years. You can't just write it off as coaching, young players, etc. It's been too long since the Brazil NT has played with true style against good competition (or any competition really)... 2 years to be exact. Maybe the quality shown by the Brazil NT in the past 2 years is the norm.
You used to look at the CF, AM and CMs of a Brazil NT and be awed... now, it's become mostly hype and not all that good in reality. The generation of Kaka and Ronaldinho, that pretty much started to decline in 2008-2009, has not been replaced at all.
Frankly, i get a bit sad watching Brazil NT now. But i'm hoping this 2-year rut gets turned around. Haven't seen signs of it yet... so i'm not holding my breath right now.

Re: Maybe this is the true Brazil NT
Well, I certainly was disappointed about what Brazil showed in the friendly against Germany not long ago. I hope they will get back on track in the future as in the past Brazil were always a joy to behold. It is doubly sad as the next World Cup is in Brazil and 2014 isn't so far away.

Some people just expect too much from Brazil.

They should've kept Dunga. They don't have R9s generation atm and accept it. Dunga did very well considering what he had to work with, and hadn't Melo screwed him he would've gone on to face Spain in the Final.
They just don't play Samba football anymore, not until they get the next crop of flair players.

Re: Maybe this is the true Brazil NT
Thing is that from 94 to 2006 they had extreamly talented and once in a while generation like spain is having at the moment, also their players were some of the absolute best footballers from Ronaldo ,rivaldo to Cafu, gilberto silva.Who in this current NT is that level?
They have great wing backs at the moment, and abundance of it actually. But apart from that..

Re: Maybe this is the true Brazil NT
That's the thing... the talent is on defense with Brazil with the wingbacks, Silva, Luiz, Lucio, etc. Dunga was correct in building the team around the defense and relying on counter attacks. Once the creative talent is there again, you can easily transition back to more total football.
Midfield and CF are a black hole for Brazil Nt right now.

But we have benzema to give us 5 goals and 4 assists in his last 13 NT games. One man attack pretty often.
Exactly. Go with the strength of the team first instead of forcing it.
With Cabaye in, Nasri improving, Martin getting better and hopefully, one of Ben Arfa or Diaby getting healthy and in form... it should get a lot easier since we'll have some midfield playmakers. Ribery, Remy, Menez and Valbuena can handle the wings. Gameiro at CF and Benz on a wing is an option too.
You're going to see a lot of experimenting now that the Euro is in the bag. Blanc was playing the qualification first and will now focus on getting our attack sorted.

Do you expect a NT to play beautiful football all the time ?

That's Brazil NT's brand. Maybe they won't be able to play great football all the time... but they should do it most of the time. Holland is the same way...

You know, it still fascinates me that Netherlands and Brazil, who had such a beautiful style in the past, abandoned that while the formerly boring German NT now seems to have taken up the torch.sportsczy wrote:That's Brazil NT's brand. Re: Maybe this is the true Brazil NT
Brazil haven't been playing "Samba" football since the 80's. Their system has been pretty much the same for a long time.
2 Solid workman like CM's
2 Attacking wingbacks
and a ridiculously talented front 3
As well as at least one erratic defender (loOoOoOl)
It's still enjoyable to watch IMO because the quality is still very clear it's just the tactics are just not naive any more.
Brazil will always produce talent so it may seem like they have a problem now but in the long run it'll work out.

It's personnel. Germans are pragmatists. If the creative talent went away, Germany would return to defensive football if that was the strength... France actually adopted the German model of football and adapted it.

And bad goalkeeping Z... that's been eternal for the Brazil NT.

People shouldn't be judging us until 2013 when our rebuilding will be done,we dont even have a starting line up yet other than Marcelo,Thiago Silva and Nerman.

Re: Maybe this is the true Brazil NT
Brazil have a lot of young talent up front. I'd say from here to 2014 they'd have a much stronger attack.
A mature Ganso and Neymar will be a joy to watch.

When you have won the world cup 5 times, there is a lot of expectation from you. They still have some of best players in football.

GTFO Mano
They have some great players who can become key players in the future
Marcelo, Neymar, Ganso, Silva possibly Hulk
(notice how I didn't write Alves in there)
Judge them in 2014

Alves is an atrocious RB.Hes so shit sometimes at going forward, the one player i believe that gets benefited the most from Barca's system after Busquets.

How could THIS be the true Brazil when they are the most successful nation in history. Clearly this is a transition phase.
