Why has Micah Richards been dropped? What is Capello playing at?

I have reserved judgement on him to a degree because he has a tough job on his hands, but selections like this I cant understand.

He has been in superb form and has really improved alot, defensively and offensively he is coming on strong.

Made worse when you think Glenn Johnson hasn't played that much this season, but gets called up anyway.

Also, this is a full strength England squad, minus Wilshere, and yet Rooney gets a pass? The hell is Capello doing? Nevermind it's going to be a hard game, let's just leave out our best player because Fergie will have a go at him otherwise. Rolling Eyes

Not to worry, though. Our dynamic strike force of Bobby Zamora and Darren Bent will win us the game.

On a less sarcastic note, it'll be interesting to see how we line-up against Spain. It could be either 4-4-2 with a "big guy little guy" combo up front or 4-3-3 with Bent leading the line, like against Wales. I sincerely hope we do go 4-3-3, otherwise we'll never see the ball.

I'd go with:

Hart

Walker --- Terry --- Lescott --- Cole

Walcott --- Lampard --- Parker --- Barry --- Milner

Agbonlahor

The City players are the in form players at the moment, so it'd make more sense to go with them. The only doubt I have is over Walcott, who's not in the best of form himself but has a better work rate than Adam Johnson.

Rodwell shouldn't have been called up, and Downing is not in very good form. Johnson can play the role of impact sub, like he usually does. I've just noticed the absence of Ashley Young... is he injured?

Agbonlahor up front for his pace, strength and work rate. Sturridge, Welbeck and Bent I can see struggling wihtout a partner, and Zomara is just all round crap at the moment.

Team Capello will most likely go with, knowing him:

Hart

Johnson --- Terry --- Lescott --- Cole

Walcott --- Parker --- Barry --- Milner

Zamora --- Bent

Which I guess isn't awful, but I'd be worried with just those two in midfield.

Capello should NOT make the same mistake as he did Against Germany.

Atleast two DM should start, Both Parker and barry may be Average but both should start, However Rodwell is in good form and i would prefer him over Barry.

We need to stop spanish players getting in between the lines.

I would go for a 4-2-3-1

Hart

Walker --- Cahill --- Lescott/Jags --- Cole

Rodwell ---Parker

Theo-----Lampard-----Milner

Agbonlahor

should have called rooney up

I have no idea why Glen Flopson is called up and Richards is not.

Rooney was not called up because Capello wanted to use this friendly to find a good formation and team for the next games that Rooney will miss.

He doesn't play for Man United, and so he won't get a call up.

Spearing's form in the end of last season was equal to Wilshere's form and miles better than Cleverley's form which got him England call up, yet he wasn't even called up for U-21

As far as I've read and heard, Rodwell and Sturridge are both set to start tomorrow, and Gareth Barry will captain the side. Oh, that's going to be a laugh.

I bet we see:

Hart

Johnson --- Terry --- Lescott --- Cole

Walcott --- Rodwell --- Barry --- Milner

Sturridge --- Zamora

I don't know why, but I've got this horrible feeling that Zamora will start the game.

A quick check and Lampard is, indeed, captain tomorrow. Evidently I read wrong.

Terry will be rested. Jagielka is a doubt, so probably Cahill and Lescott at the back.

Agbonlahor has withdrawn with an "injury".

Sky Sports reckons Phil Jones will start in midfield, but SS have never been good when it comes to line-ups. I'm certain Rodwell will start.

Well there's some good news for England at least. Is there any reason why Cole can't be captain in the absence of Lampard?
