Are Valencia title contenders?
Can they keep up this form and find themselves at the top of the table at the end of the season? Discuss.

Re: Are Valencia title contenders?
We'll at least our Defense is decent again.
I don't think so. Things have to happen in our favor for the title.
If we can win against Atletico, Bilbao, Sevilla, Betis, Madrid, Villareal, and Malaga home and away we might have a say.

If they pull it off until january that will be the farthest they go, before madrid buys half their team.

The reaction of this forum would be epic if they win La Liga since we have a lot of Barca/RM fans.

That's why there's a winter transfer window.
Really, we just need depth at Defence.
I still dream of Albiol coming back just in case Rami or Ruiz get injured.

Maybe if Barcelona's starting defenders and Madrid's starting midfielders are all consistently injured throughout the season.

If we can consider Chelsea, Inter, and Dortmund title contenders then Valencia most certainly is.

I think Valencia are now on top after Nasri and ultimately Fabrgas left them.
Plus we got Ruiz and Rami.

Valencia are in a much better position than Arsenal. We're 11 points off the top, FFS. 4th place is our happiest scenario.

Wenger lost it, really.
You guys will resurge though. You've got the team to do so.

Re: Are Valencia title contenders?
I made a thread long time ago comparing Arsenal (without Cesc and Nasri) and Valencia. I still think Valencia has better players in most positions with RVP and Sagna being the exceptions.
On topic, Valencia have quite an amazing team. I only worry about their RB position, otherwise they have a fantastic side. Time for them to go for Srna or Van der wiel.

Re: Are Valencia title contenders?
No, sadly they are not title contenders. They are just not strong enough to do it this year. They can't compete with the runs Barca and Madrid can go on, I mean it's nothing for either of them to rip through ten league games and not drop a point, thats's just too much pressure being put on Valencia.
Plus the fact is they have to fight off two teams not just one capable of going on these crazy runs through the league.
I for one hope I'm wrong, but I don't think so.

Re: Are Valencia title contenders?
Amazing how they're suddenly title contenders now. I created a similar thread before the start of La Liga and nearly everyone said they weren't. Football eh?
I don't think Valencia are title contenders by the way. Despite their superb performance against Barca I still think Atleti are much better equipped for a title challenge.

Re: Are Valencia title contenders?
They could be title contenders in the formal sense, as in, they could challenge Barcelona and Madrid for a fair amount of time, but in the end will not keep up with the long victory-runs I expect both to make.
However, both are under so much pressure, to succeed in the league, in the copa, and above-all the Champions League, that they might lose focus or start dropping points midpoint of second season-half due to fatigue.
Valencia certainly has the quality to beat all teams in La Liga, and at least challenge RM and FCB in the matches (as we have seen today), but in the end, both are stronger and have more depth, plus a team like Valencia is bound to drop points.
I think these weak spells this start of the season for especially Madrid are temporary (although they seem far more fundamental at Madrid). Don't forget that it is in fact only September. I would be excited however, if we don't see 8-0 slaughterings every weekend anymore.
I expect Barcelona to take the cake again, though. They look in great shape. although I can see Madrid coming back from an underdog position. Plus, Barcelona will not win the Champions League I think.

Re: Are Valencia title contenders?
Well if the WHOLE league actually challenges barca/madrid at home [like what's happening now] during the whole season and Valencia manage to stay consistent then yeah Valencia can be contenders.
