Are Newcastle title contenders?
Win their game in hand and they'll go 3rd, one point of off United before playing them. Very tight between 3rd-7th

You really are a knee jerk legend Sepi lol
I am betting now that we end up finishing 7th, we deserve to be were we are atm but we dont have the squad to maintain it.

We'd be 3rd if Ruudy didn't decide to play like Leo Yashin last week

Re: Are Newcastle title contenders?
Seeing as our squad is full of highly coveted players such as Alan Smith, Peter Lovenkrands, Shola Ameobi and James Perch I cannot understand how people have the cheek to suggest we aren't going to challenge for the league.
Seriously though, the next five games will be a real test. I don't think our unbeaten run will last much longer.

Their 2 losses were their first 2 games... Man City and Man U.. whom Newcastle have yet to play. I'd say it's a fair assessment.
Newcastle's time will come. Congrats on being where they are and doing what they're doing, but the reality check is coming at some point.

Still tho, thats irrelevant he was talking about form its irrelevant of who has played who......
As for the reality check goes i have already admitted will finish outside the top 6 simply because the squad isnt strong enough particularly upfront and in defense.....

9 points away from top on 10th matchday, and they're getting called title contenders?

This is not La Liga, you knowBarrileteCosmico wrote:9 points away from top on 10th matchday, and they're getting called title contenders?
(By the way, I was just looking at the 10th matchday tables of EPL, La Liga, Serie A and Bundesliga, and funnily the EPL is the league where the leading team has the biggest point gap to the rest, while La Liga and Serie A have the closest top teams and BL and Ligue 1 are in between.

I get that you're a reasonable fan with reasonable expectations. Title talk is nonsense.
Form though?.. Who you've played is completely relevant. You never hear of a team being in great form after stomping a bunch of scrubs.

Tbf tho we are a scrub aswell, we are beating teams we wouldnt usually beat we are not City or Utd......
Going unbeaten after facing Arsenal and Tottenham home.... Villa ,Wolves and Sunderland Away etc etc
Plus when you go back to last season we havent lost since April, regardless of the teams we have faced that is a feat for a mid table club such as ourselves that should be praised.
For example we have 19 points from these 9 games, last season we got 6 points from those same fixtures.

They are undefeated since Adebayor arrived and would be ahead of Newcastle if it wasn't for the game they need to make up (pending they win that match of course)

Tbh mate, this is a fine example of Sepi's knee jerking prowess no self respecting NUFC fan expect us to stay top 4 infact top 6 would be an insane achievement we just dont have the squad to compete with the big 6 atm.

Re: Are Newcastle title contenders?
Not enough depth or strength, sadly.
I feel if they strengthen properly (you know, use the Carroll money) in January they can at least get an Europa League place, perhaps even 4th place if divine intervention occurs (Podolski moving there, or something).

Re: Are Newcastle title contenders?
This years PL is exciting.
I thought Chelsea had a guaranteed top 4 at the start of the season, but how wrong could you be. (Not saying they're not going to get there, but their will be teams challenging.)
Anyway. Sadly, I don't see Newcastle getting there. They'll drop off after January as they don't have the greatest of depth. Then there's Ashley being jewish and not buying anyone with the fee he recieved for Andy...
