Which... ?
Which is the best run major league in the world?
Consider the following:
What actions has the league taken to ensure financial stability within its clubs?
What actions has the league taken to ensure the development of the youth?
What actions has the league taken to ensure a democratic distribution of income?
What actions has the league taken to market the league appropriately?
What actions has the league taken to fix the problem of diving?
What actions has the league taken to fix the problem of racism?
What actions has the league taken to ensure a higher attendance rate due to safer and friendlier conditions?
What actions has the league taken to ensure affordable prices for the fans?
What actions has the league taken to ensure high quality referees?
Etc.

Re: Which is the best run major league in the world?
Bundesliga
What actions has the league taken to ensure financial stability within its clubs?
- The BL licensing system demands financial stability of the clubs or they are not given a new license
What actions has the league taken to ensure the development of the youth?
- Each 1st and 2nd league team is required to have a youth academy with qualified coaches and training facility due to certain standards
What actions has the league taken to ensure a democratic distribution of income?
- The TV money is split according to a certain key that gives each team a share of the TV money, albeit the higher ranked clubs get slightly more than the lower ranked ones. TV money is also afforded to 2nd and 3rd league clubs.
What actions has the league taken to market the league appropriately?
- So far not enough. They need to expand the brand to other countries still. But on the plus side, there is a huge untapped potential still.
What actions has the league taken to fix the problem of diving?
- Not enough, even though divers do get the occasional yellow card. Diving is not as prevalent than in certain other league, though, even though we do have some repeat offenders.
What actions has the league taken to fix the problem of racism?
- A lot. The DFB campaigns against racism and clubs follow suit. Unfortunately there are still some eternally yesterday-ish people, especially in eastern parts of Germany, but the league tries to get rid of such idiots.
What actions has the league taken to ensure a higher attendance rate due to safer and friendlier conditions?
- Low ticket pricing, safe standing, tickets double as bus tickets to the stadiums for no extra fees.
What actions has the league taken to ensure affordable prices for the fans?
- As the clubs are basically "fan owned" and the German fans take immediate action when prices are raised unreasonably (they simply stay away, that is), the ticket prices are more or less self-regulatory and low.
What actions has the league taken to ensure high quality referees?
- The refs are required to attend courses and fitness tests. Of course certain lapses of lack of common sense happen all the time.

Um, yes. I wish those who voted for the EPL would write the answers to the above questions, too, as I would like to know on which grounds they consider the EPL the best run league.
By the way, one more point:
The Bundesliga clubs work together with the DFB to ensure a strong national team by educating the players properly and using a similar philosophy of play as what is used in the NT.

Re: Which is the best run major league in the world?
It's between premier league and Bundesliga.
As bundesliga is winning, I'll make a point in favour of Premier League:
While bundesliga has two positives on Premier League, basically that their clubs are more financially stable and the 51% rule, the Premier League has some big advantadges on Bundesliga: mainly that they are able to cash in a lot more for their product in TV rights and other incomes nationally and internationally. They clearly market the league better and have the better broadcasts. Even if PL teams are debt ridden, they are a real force in Europe thanks to this, while Bundesliga teams are not (bar Bayern)

Re: Which is the best run major league in the world?
The lack of proper marketing of the BL outside of Germany is indeed a big point. But as I mentioned above, this may actually be a benefit as the BL didn't tap into that market properly yet. If the DFL starts to market things world wide and establish a proper brand, too, the influx of that money, when distributed fairly (!!) might make the BL a real power in the future. After all, the BL is already stable and interesting without that additional money - imagine how it might look like when this source of income is finally tapped.

The akward thing is that Bundesliga is also poorly sold INSIDE Germany. German TV rights in germany are sold for peanuts compared to English, Italian and even spanish deals. I don't know the reason: Germany is huge, rich and seems to me that football is it's main sport. Perhaps there are no pay-per-view german tvs that are willing to pay huge money to get more subscriptors as there are in Spain and england?
Ps. Lol at who voted La Liga! They didn't even have a decent website since a year ago.

Re: Which is the best run major league in the world?
The TV rights can't be sold more expensivlely as the German viewers simply don't like to pay huge sums of money for Pay-TV. The German Pay-TV is always close to bankruptcy as people simply don't subscribe to it, as we have a lot of FreeTV around, too. So there is just no real money to be made by PayTV and thus TV deals. It is the same thing why the ticket prices are affordable here - ask high fees and people will simply boycot it.

Re: Which is the best run major league in the world?
So that's the reason why they make so little money, most matches are shown on free TV?
People doesn't like to pay huge sums, but if only one game per week is shown free (as it is in Spain), then you either subscribe to a pay-tv or go to the bar almost every week (which in the end costs you almost the same than Pay-tv in beers and food).

Re: Which is the best run major league in the world?
Actually only 2nd and 3rd league matches are shown fully, but people are used to the "Sportschau" format, a programme that gives you indepth information on the match day with the best scenes, interviews and standings. Of the CL matchdays, one match is shown on FreeTV. More important for Germans is that each match of the German national team is broadcast, though. The NT still has the highest importance TV-wise.
(And since the last two or so years, also all matches of the women's NT are broadcast life, too.)
If I remember correctly, NT matches always have the highest audiences (in the 15-20 million, depending on the importance of the match) which is higher than the audiences of the CL matches in the FreeTV, by the way. Even the audience of the women's NT's matches was higher than that of the CL matches, if I remember the reports correctly, by the way.
Real fans usually prefer to watch the matches of their clubs live in the stadiums, I'd say - prolly one more reason why most stadiums are always sold out.
I have the impression the German football culture differs quite a bit from that in England, Spain or Italy.

Its sad to see that Spain and Italy having most trophees on club level and being most popular for long time, now are in a slump. Spain needs to sort out diving and TV distribution, Itay needs infrastructure. Both need investment.

That makes no sense really. Leaving aside NT footballl, which is a different market, you are telling me all matches of Bundesliga 1 are on pay-tv, and even though Bundesliga can only sell their rights for about half what Spain makes, in a country that is twice Spain in population and much richer?
Germans can be used to aftermatch programmes, but in Spain people watch them too, after watching the game. Really, makes no sense.
And if the fans prefer going to the stadium, then it also makes no sense that stadium tickets are cheap, as a high demand = high prices....
Only thing that would explain all this would be that interest in watching club football matches in germany is actually not very big, and the fans crowd the stadiums because they are nice and cheap.

Re: Which is the best run major league in the world?
One thing that has to be noted for the EPL is their high production values.
They do the most fascinating programs on all the players/coaches/teams and are always done very well.
I know more about bottom table teams in the EPL than La Liga.

Re: Which is the best run major league in the world?
@free_cat
Well, I pondered about that, too - I guess the main thing is that Germans are notoriously stubborn and react badly to being ripped off. And as soon as prices are too high, they simply don't accept it and don't pay it. I always wondered why prices in England could skyrocket the way they did - here no one would pay that amount and rather stay at home. Moreover, the Bundesliga clubs are fan oriented, so they just don't do it - or if they try, they face that people simply stay away (as happened when Schalke tried to raise the prices for away fans for the famous derby against Dortmund. Even though the Schalke stadium is virtually next door of Dortmund and neither travel nor accomodation are a point, the Dortmund fangroups called for a boycott. I can't really see that happening anywhere else but in Germany, by the way).

Vote with your wallet is a tried and tested method to be heard. If more people would do this you'd be surprised how many clubs or even businesses in general would change their policies.

Re: Which is the best run major league in the world?
LOLOLOL La Liga xD
What actions has the league taken to ensure financial stability within its clubs?
-None at the moment.
What actions has the league taken to ensure the development of the youth?
-There must be at least 10? Homegrown players in the 23 player squad and soon there must be 3? Englishmen playing on the pitch.
What actions has the league taken to ensure a democratic distribution of income?
Isn't EPL split equally?
What actions has the league taken to market the league appropriately?
EPL is the best marketed league in the world.
What actions has the league taken to fix the problem of diving?
Not sure
What actions has the league taken to fix the problem of racism?
Not sure
What actions has the league taken to ensure a higher attendance rate due to safer and friendlier conditions?
Well I heard from my friend that went to the games that there is about 1,000 policemen IN the stadium and about twice that outside.
What actions has the league taken to ensure affordable prices for the fans?
LOL WUT
What actions has the league taken to ensure high quality referees?
Despite what a lot of people say, the refereeing in the EPL is not that bad, but every time a referee does something wrong it's highlighted because it's the EPL.
I also want to say that I am not 100% certain about all my answers but I'm just pitching in!
