most scousers are quite realistic about their chances and rightfully believe that this is not their year.. in fact its the arsenal fans mainly who claim liverpool are big contenders or so.. dunno why..

They're a good side, IMO. They can challenge but sure, it's gonna be hard.
I think they'll enjoy their underdog status quite a bit.

Re: Could this be the season Liverpool win the Premier League?
Short answer: No.
Long answer: Almost certainly not. There's always the outside chance as just about anything can happen in football and I don't think United are quite as deep in attack as they appear, but we're lacking in at least (AT LEAST) one more truly top class player to be at the level where we can really be considered up there and those are the types of players you attract with CL football. We're in year 1 of a 3 year building process, IMO. The aim is to get back into the CL so that we can attract top class players (and to shift deadwood off the wage bill, which we've done well so far). Next year, the aim will be to sign another top class player or two, if possible, and some more depth, then give a credible challenge. Year after that, we'll be aiming at the real world-beater players with the big boys, hopefully, and looking at winning. We've started well, but there's a long way to go yet.

I think more importantly than if this squad is "better" than other EPL clubs, it's that this club seems to "believe" which is a key factor. Confidence is very important, and could really help the bunch achieve (also won't have the wear and tear of European play that the other big clubs will)

Doubt it. They've shown a lot of improvement, but I don't think they have the quality to win it. I'd still rate them as the leagues 4th best team to be honest.
If they get Champions League football, it will be considered as a good season for them.

Phritz wrote:Meh, the quality is just about there to do it, and there's no fear รก la Benitez bullshit like Skrtel playing RB vs Middlesborough and failing hard. (iunno why, but that game is seared into my brain)
o that game. Boro hadn't won in the league since November, and we were just back from a 0-1 win @ Bernabeu. Arbeloa was injured, and it had to be between Carragher-Skrtel for RB. Skrtel played there and got absolutely destroyed by their LW. Torres was injured, so El Zhar started and missed an open net in the beginning of the game
guess who was the Boro wingers who destroyed us and our title chances that day...he plays for us now
still can't believe we lost 2 games all season, did the double on United and Chelsea, had the most goals scored and the best GD, and still didn't win the league

The draws killed us that season.....the two losses weren't even the main factor....We just could not beat small teams away from Anfield that year

Re: Could this be the season Liverpool win the Premier League?
While winning the title isn't realistic this season, I'm not going to completely dismiss any hope. If there's one thing we are capable of, it's beating the bigger teams. If we sort out our issues against the smaller teams, there's a good chance we could be up there fighting for the title.
So realistically, the answer is no, but let's not completely dismiss them. Crazy stuff happens in this game all the time.
