Re: 'The Messiah' - Lionel Messi
at least we can say nobody in history did so many runs starting from his own half. there are 1-2 long runs of some great players but messi has around 100 already. so messi has something that others didnt have

I shudder to think how much damage he could do in a counter attacking system.
Argentina need to get their sh*t together.

I have thought the exact same thing for ages.Argentina dont have a midfield so the logical thing for them would be to bypass midfield and play a counter attacking game.
Just because Messi is a GOAT in a possession side people tend to ignore the fact that he is a player tailor made for a counter attacking system.
Argentina should get Dunga as coach. He would do the smart thing and get the best out of Messi. He would make Argentina a force to reckon with.

Re: 'The Messiah' - Lionel Messi
I agree. Personally I prefer 4-2-3-1. Counter attacking football indeed.

---------------------Pipita------------------------
Tévez, Agüero, Riquelme and Gago on the bench.
PS: lol a Brazilian coaching Argentina? Not only that, but Dunga...*bleep* that.

Even though i'm a U fan, I would actually love to see Argentina under Sampaoli.

Why not Dunga?
Are you objecting because of the whole 'It would be a dishonour if a Brazilian coaches Argentina' or because you think Dunga isnt good enough.

Re: 'The Messiah' - Lionel Messi
I like that 4-2-3-1 formation. Some would say Aguero is wasted on the bench but I think he'd make a fantastic super sub. He would change the dynamic and strike fear into defenders as soon as he comes on with his pace.
As for Messi, alex is totally right. Messi has the perfect attributes for counter attacking football.
I mean, imagine if a loose ball bounces to Messi in his own half and there are only 4 defenders in front of him. He could literally dribble the entire back four and go straight for goal. There would be a lot of space for him, and he'd have support from pacy players like higuain and lavezzi. It'd be a nightmare for opposition defenders. I'm getting excited just thinking about that.

Re: 'The Messiah' - Lionel Messi
You would play Higuain over Aguero?...I see no reason why anymore, its not like Higuain is clearly the better goalscorer.
As shown, Aguero has his own ability to poach "easy" goals.

Re: 'The Messiah' - Lionel Messi
Both. Why should we look for a foreign coach when we have so many ourselves. I understand why someone might think we don't have a top coach after the failures of recent years but we have to admit two things:alexjanosik wrote:Why not Dunga?

- Our football federation is either stupid or corrupt, or both. Coaches selected have been poor for many years, although I do believe in Pachorra Sabella. We also have a few young coaches coming up such as Zubeldía whom I like a lot.
- We are not Spain, we are not Brazil, we are not France. Apart from attackers, we haven't produced world class players for years. People in Argentina always have unrealistic expectations from Albiceleste. We have to understand that we are not a top team in terms of quality of squad, despite having the best player in the world.
Regarding Higuaín, it is a personal choice but I would be equally happy with Kun Agüero. I don't think anyone can prove one is better than the other.
