Re: Sci-Fi
myself, im a massive star trek fan and have been most of my life, the number 1 sci-fi series in my opinion. i dont think any show has impacted our lives as much as star trek.

Re: Sci-Fi
stargate sg1 was the mutts nuts, shame it started getting shitty towards the end, atlantis and that other one with robert carlyle weren't up to much tho. the movie wasnt great but very watchable.
anyone else here a fan of the halo universe, the novels are surprisingly good and it has such a rich backstory and characters. if there are any halo fans here i seriously advise you read the novels. halo legends short anime films are also pretty good.

Re: Sci-Fi
Event Horizon is one of my favorite movies ever, such a shame they made Paul Anderson cut out the scariest stuff for movie to be rated r.
I've also put Blade Runner on download, about time I see that...

Re: Sci-Fi
someone i know worked on the lighting on event horizon, sam neil is one bad mofo in the film. a very good horror/sci-fi flick. one of my faves is robocop, the little infomercials in it, the corperation everything as a child of the eighties it takes a special place in my heart, its also super violent.
strongly advise people read stuff by phillip k Dick. youd be surprised how much of his work has been adapted into movies, another classic 80's film total recall is from one of his short stories called "we can remember it for you wholesale". a scanner darkly is another of his works i believe blade runner was too cant remember of the top of my head.

That reminds me, a scene from the beginning of Alien 3 was filmed not far from my house. It was filmed at a place called the Blast Beach, this particular beach was located to an old pit. They used to dump the slag and rubbish from the pit here so the beach was black. The part they filmed there was where you see the shuttle flying through he air and crashing.
Anyway my old man worked at one of the pits as an electrician, he helped sort out some of the electrics they used wile filming.
