Juventude wrote:To your question Gigi, I really don't think our offers were as high as the press stated. I think a lot of those were rumors or inaccurate.

As this market comes to a close with a series of inexpensive loans w/ right to purchase, Juve clearly did not have as much money to spend on this market as was stated in the news. I think Marotta was allowed to spend a lot of money on a player like Aguero or Rossi, but that was it.

I agree that the market was not impressive in terms of big names coming to the team, but I think our budget was small (unless we could land a big name player) and we had to fill a lot of positions.

Fair enough, but if you add it all up we spent 44m this summer and apparently we still have 7-8m in the kitty to get a LW and CB. So we will end up spending 50m or so this summer. That should be enough to get a top player and add a few re-inforcements.

As for filling alot of positions, Marotta stated that we needed quality, not quantity this summer. Unfortunately, he was wrong because he had to fill positions that were seemingly filled last year. Martinez, Motta, Traore, Lanzafame, Pepe, Rinaudo, Aquilani, Toni, these were all players brought in last year and now this year they are either gone or are bench warmers at best. Not to mention the fact that Bonucci has been rumoured to be on his way out as well. So Marotta has had to spend a considerable amout of his time and his budget replacing players that he brought in just last year, i.e fixing his own mess.

I understand the problems with getting rid of the deadweight of the Secco era, but other than Amauri, who still lingers on our roster, there aren't any Secco players left. They are all gone. So that cannot be used as an excuse anymore. We have brought in players this summer to replace players that Marotta brought in just last year, his own players, not Secco's players. That is my concern.

I want Juve to succeed just as much as anyone, but having to redo your lineup every summer isn't a rrecipe for success and won't take us to the promised land.

juve gigi, bro. you're seeing the glass half-full. I mean dude, we had a shitty team when Marotta Took over and he needed to wipe Secco's mess. Its true that he has made bad transfers (motta, martinez) and some loan deals gone bad (traore, aquilani in some extent) but he has elevated the quality and depth of this Juve, and right now with the 2 new players we are going to bring (cb,lw) this juve is a serious contender for champions league in terms of quality. Now the rest lies in Conte to do his work.

While its true we are still not quite "there" yet. We are still missing that world class game chaning player like Ibrah, Pato, Cavani, Rooney, Higauin, etc. that big brand name if u know what i mean.

But the real question, is juventus right now with the team it has is better than secco's last years? i'd say yes, hell yes

We can't have WC players until we are not in UCL and thats simple ...We had the same deal as City with Atletico they offered more salary but Juve more privileges to Aguero ..he chose them for UCL , ROssi in Jan said he wants to play in UCL he said the same thing when we were linked with him ...no ucl = no stars ...only potential wc players

To bring this back on topic, I have to imagine that this move is killing Marotta on the inside. He was, after all, the one that originally brought Poli to Samp. Since Juve has been unable to bring any of Samp's good players to Juve, I'm starting to think that Garrone just refuses to do business with Juve. Any thoughts on this? I would think that Marotta had interest in Cassano, Pazzini, and Poli, but, somehow, all three end up on Juve's rivals' rosters. I think there might be more to this story. I'm guessing Juve was told that they would have to pay more than the market price for those players. Maybe I'm just a conspiracy theorist.

Agent of Villarreal's Giuseppe Rossi confident Juventus move will go ahead
Released on - Friday,15 July , 2011 -16:49
Federico Pastorello, the agent of Villarreal attacker Giuseppe Rossi, is confident that his client's proposed transfer to Juventus will go ahead, and added that the deal could be completed shortly.

Goal.com exclusively revealed on Tuesday that Juventus have turned their attention to Rossi, as the transfer of Atletico Madrid's Sergio Aguero to Turin has collapsed, and they are keen to seal the switch before they embark on their pre-season tour to USA.

'I am very confident that the deal will go ahead. Giuseppe is keen to move to Juventus and negotiations between both clubs are going according to plan,' Pastorello was quoted as saying by Radio Mana Mana.

'The transfer could very well be completed in the near future, but I don't want to say too much. We shouldn't forget that we're talking about an important player who represents a certain value. Juventus are pushing for a move and I repeat that I'm confident everything will go ahead.'

Aguero open to Juve move - agent

Sergio Aguero's representative has confirmed there is a 'concrete' chance the Atletico Madrid forward will join Juventus.

GettyImagesSergio Aguero is set to make a decision on his future after the Copa America

Aguero, 23, has been linked with a number of clubs around Europe including Chelsea, Inter and Barcelona, but Real Madrid and Juventus have appeared the most likely destinations.

Whether Juve would be able to reach an agreement over his fee remains to be seen - Atletico are seeking €45 million - but agent Bruno Satin believes the move is a real possibility.

"Contact with the Bianconeri has been constant," Satin told Tuttosport. "Aguero wants to move to a big club and Juventus fits this profile.
"We are aware of the club's rejuvenation plans but that isn't enough to impede an agreement. The chances of seeing Aguero wear the Juve jersey are concrete."

Former Atletico Madrid winger Paulo Futre believes Aguero is unlikely to join Real Madrid.

"It is very hard to imagine Aguero moving to Real Madrid," Futre told El Mundo Deportivo. "There still exists a huge rivalry with the Atletico fans and they would not like to see the transfer materialise.

"I don't really understand Aguero's comments. I have a feeling that his agents are behind all this. I am sure that the supporters will forgive him if he stays at the club and he apologises. He's a great player and that's the way things go in the footballing world."

Yet when push came to shove
Rossi said he was happy at Villarreal
And Aguero's agent said there were attractive offers from Juventus, Real Madrid and Manchester but Aguero chose England..

I agree that Juventus still has some pull for sure but it is harder, first of all Man City can afford higher wages and they are in the CL and in a much healthier domestic league.

Of course Rossi is happy at Villarreal, who wouldn't be. But the fact of the matter is that many sources, including Pepito's own sister, confirmed that he wanted Juve. So the fact that he is not with us has nothing to do with us not being in UCL, and everything to do with Marotta not being good enough to close the deal.

Aguero chose England because ManCity made the best deal with Madrid, not because Aguero didn't want to come to Juve because we weren't in UCL. That is the point I am trying to make.

Aguero and Rossi DID NOT refuse Juventus, plain and simple...

They didn't refuse Juventus, absolutely not but they chose greener pastures.
Plus, the Rossi scenario was already explained by Moggi.
Vucinic fits Juventus' system better at this time.

When the season starts we can begin reviewing his transfers. Before then, it will still be a bunch of arguing without seeing results on the field.

we coul start PREviewing it then? Razz

i meant just at least know to a full extent the capacity of this team.

i mean, there is a lot of difference of us getting eljero and rodholfo than getting no elia and astori. Or getting elia and trading bonucci for alves.

How about selling iaquinta and not amauri? i'd KILL myself Crying or Very sad

I would be quite happy if we were able to get rid of just one of them. I would ecstatic if we sold both of them.
