What's the concept of this thing; kind of like player of the week or something a little different?

its usually something or someone that was mentioned quiet alot in the forums during the week. sometimes its a player, sometimes its an event, sometimes its a member, it all depends on the forum discussions

Re: God of the week
Player/manager/whatever the forum has obsessed with the most for the past week.justdoit_ wrote:What's the concept of this thing; kind of like player of the week or something a little different?
For example, back in the days when Pastore/Bale/Abate/etc. was kicking ass there would be 3 threads a day titled "Is [insert overhyped palyer here] a future Ballon D'Or?" "is [player] the best in his position?" and so on. Curiously, Messi never won it, so it's not about the best player but about who was overhyped the most through the forum hype machine.

Add Aguero too Zizzle, as this match week is not yet over. He wins it hands down...

Re: God of the week
Why is it called God of the week though ? If all the title means is that they have been overhyped, should another title not be drawn up ?
To me, God of the week should be player of the week, or manager of the week, whereas the popularity contest should be something else.
But no use breaking tradition I guess.

Re: God of the week
Well the idea is that through the forum hype machine some players would achieve a god like status - also, just because they were overhyped it doesn't mean that they were overrated.JuvenelCuore wrote:Why is it called God of the week though ? Oh granted, I was not implying there were. But I mean a God for me would be like Paolo Rossi.
And to OP, make the names Godified, that was the best part !

That is what I mean, why are they considered Gods ? I mean, Jose Mourinho still lost v. Barcelona for example, why is he a "God" for the week ?
Stellar performances should be noticed. Vidal, Messi, etc.
