Wenger: I'd spend £40m

Wenger has landed himself a reputation for prudence by refusing to bring in players over £20 million during his Arsenal career, despite the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool and, of course, Manchester City raising the transfer bar.

But Wenger says that he would spend as much as he needs to get his man.

"I will pay £30 million I will even pay £40 million if I find the right players,'' he told Sky Sports News. "But it's not a question of money, it's a question of quality we find. I think I have a wrong reputation of not wanting to spend money - I do not want to spend money for average players.

''We are not frightened to spend money when we think it's right. Our fans have more reasons to be proud of this club - the values here, the way the club is run, what the club is built (upon) - than being angry with the club.

"Of course we want to deliver trophies, of course we want to win trophies, who wouldn't want (that)? But we feel we were very close last year and my regret of course is that we didn't do it but we are battling on all fronts and a bit unlucky on all fronts I think."

Its our job to find the players for Wenger , how hard can it be, We dont want a 40 million player we want 4 players that worth around there.

Quality? Yet you signed Squillaci beucase he was cheaper. Skip the bullshit and buy a player. How hard can it be to find a player? Every other team can find player then why not you? Of course its all about money. You are looking for cheaper and quality players which is of coure hard to find.

He could have bought an LB but he would trust the defensive qualities of Gibbs.
He must have seen what happened last night with 2 defenders getting injured within a space of 20 min yet he wont buy a proper LB to rotate with gibbs and leaving TV at CB
In the last two games we have not played enough through balls yet he wont buy an AMC to get things solved!!!!!

I dont understand what qualities Wenger wants in a player except for being younger and cheaper :?: !!!!

Yeah i'm kinda over this "right player" ballacks. Samba/Cahill/Jagielka/Mertasacker are all WAAAAAY below the quoted £30 million mark and they're EXACTLY the sort of players we desperately need
