In people's (and by people, we mean Sports) defense, the argument was that if there is someone better than Casemiro, the club should pursue that option. Also, that passing accuracy is very impressive, would not lie. Though, it was made possible by Atletico's odd decision on giving him time on the ball even though it has been shown that he has a tendency of not being able to pass accurately under pressure.

In any case, Casemiro has earned his place in the starting 11. Well done to him.

There arent many CDMs out there. There are Gabi, Busquets, Kyrchowiak, Matic and Bruno Soriano. You cant call Xabi or Motta CDMs as they arent true defensive midfielders and Juve dont play with a DM.

Out of the aformentioned CDMs I would take none of them over Casemiro.

Defensively Casemiro is more solid while kante is more useful in carrying ball forward.

This thread reminds me of Coquelin appreciation threads which hasn't been bumped for many months. And there's a good reason behind that

he’s improved over the years and is not passed by on transition anymore, his first touch and close control have gone up a level this season imo

his long passes and long shots have always been good, as his heading

he still has some issues with one touch play and short passing over, but you can’t be perfect

all in all, the guy is a rock and quiet probably as hala says, the best in world football (this season certainly the most in-form one)

For me, he is better than Kante and the best CDM in the world. His tenacity in tracking back, covering for others, and tackling is unmatched. How shambolic Real Madrid and Brazil's midfield look without him is a testament to how good he is.

Better any of the previous midfielders in the past decent Real thats had to trouble us. Still remember when he came to Real he was a huge part that steadied the midfield and helped switch the balance vs us. B4 that it was always fun watching Busquets > Khedira/Alonso/Lass lol.

No debate here, SewerRat-Kroos-Casemiro was the best midfield out there at one point and although Modric slowed down the other 2 are still better than what 99.9% other teams have. Madrid got lucky with these three beasts.

We could've competed with that if we kept Thiago and made reasonable signings but all our CM buys were a hard miss.

Imagine putting Sergi Roberto against these lot and hope for the best. Its just sad.

You did "compete" with that. you got the best of them in H2H matches and won more league titles.

Overall yes but i feel like in clasicos it was Real who dominated the midfield in the past years even though you don't win them
