Psychonauts was pretty underrated. Excellently reviewed but just never really hit mainstream that well...

The STALKER series games, definitely.
Medieval: Total War 2 (with mods)
Crysis (much better than Halo)
Freespace 2 (not underrated, but not very well known)
Arcanum
Homeworld series
The Rogue Squadron series on Gamecube (whyyy did I sell my GC!?)
Knights of the Old Republic series
System Shock 2
The Hitman series (I want another, please)
Deus Ex
Medieval: Total War 2 (with mods)
Crysis (much better than Halo)
Freespace 2 (not underrated, but not very well known)

did you try gothic 2 with the add on ? that took gothic 2 to a whole another level and now every RPG looks pale in comparison to that master peice
