This milan side is a couple of midfielders away from greatness!!...

as it is, we'll be able to keep scudetto but in europe we have no real chance at all with such a weak and an unimaginative midfield. it's a real shame though as this team has character and with a couple of quality signings in midfield it could be a force to be reckoned with in europe..


despite beating inter in the supercoppa i wasn't totally convinced by our performance, our defence is very solid and attack is great but our midfield is by far one of the worst we've ever had. it's a real shame because this team is a couple of midfielders away from greatness. i know that galliiani realizes this and i hope he does something about because this team has real potential. players like gatusso have no buisness starting for a side like milan, atleast not anymore, seedorf is not a starter and i hope allegri gives tawio the nod ahead of zambrotta from now....

i feel exactly the same man... despite victory, i also felt that new young talented midfielders are absolute necessity to this squad.

i have to say players like gattuso zambrotta seedorf, yes they add experience, quality to the team but they are definitely not meant to be starters ... not anymore. it just took so long for milan to get into the game. the way i see it, the strength always comes from midfield, and we dont have that yet... with the exception of van bommel.

im absolutely happy with attacking and defense department, but yes like fadi said, new midfielders especially any playmakers .. creative young ones are needed.

i hope galliani do buy new midfielder, and i hope its someone big.. not aquilani.

We will get Mr. X this summer, end of this month. Then in January Ganso will be the long term replacement to Seedorf.

Montolivo and Ganso, that's just what we need to compete for the CL.

we need some young experienced mids, our older boys are getting slower every year,

just wish we bought someone by now so that they could have done a pre-season with the team nad waiting for Ganso in Jan shits me to no end.
The current lot of names associated with Milan aren.t near the standard of Pirlo whom they are replacing.

Also this isn't the worst midfield we've ever had! We have the impenetrable Van Bommel. An energetic, lung busting Boateng, We got Seedorf who is showing few signs of slowing down. And Gattuso, who hasn't been terrible under Allegri (considering the previous seasons).
Of course this midfield looks amateur to the great Gattuso-Pirlo-Seedorf-Kaka quad of 05-07, but Milan can't keep reminiscing. Allegri and Ancelotti have completely different footballing philosophies. Milan must listen to his ideas. No one trusted him in the start and look what he's done for us in the space of 12 months.

I would rather see Emanuelson in midfield than Gattuso.

Emanuelson - Van Bommel - Boateng

Emanuelson runs a lot, which is the only thing Gattuso is providing at the moment, along with increasing the team spirit, something he could do on the bench in my opinion. Oh, and ofc nearly a red card in all his games. He can only do short passes, no dribbles, no flair, not quick enough to tackle cleanly like before.

I wanna see Emanuelson in midfield if we dont get another creative force, its just embarresing to see a slow "has been" rampaging around, assaulting old men etc (although the Tottenham dude was a complete ass and was also punished for what he verbally said to Gattuso).

haha jk nice to see you back Fadi, agree with some points but I definitely don't think this midfield is the worst we've ever had. Also it's still pre-season and some of our players aren't even fully fit and you say they shouldn't start such as Gattuso, this I can't agree with. These players still will get their playing time as starters. You can tell the fit from the unfit.

I know allegri loves DM's, but having 4 in the squad is way too much. He's also playing a box to box mid at trequarista to add solidity to the midfield, which I think is stupid considering we already have 2 DM's and it really hurts the attack.

In Serie A we need only 1 DM and a trquarista who can actually create, not 2 DM and a trequarista who is in the lineup because of his defensive qualities

we should either buy a trequarista and a mezzala, or at the very least play robinho as trequarista and buy a mezzala. Or alternatively we could buy a trequarista n play boateng as LCM. either option would help a lot

Also, flamini should start every game when fit, he offers much more going forward than rino

The attack is 5 stars, the defense 4.5 stars, but the mid is like 2.5 stars. It's crazy how we have just ignored it

Seedorf is the last player milan fans should complain about in their mid.

Seedorf is my favorite player on this squad. He can easily remain a starter for at least half the games, probably more.

I have to agree milans defense is one of the best in the world and the strikers are to be feared. Montolivo + Ganso(infom) would definitely give milan a great chance for CL success

Montolivo is the answer..he isn't exactly young, but for a midfielder in Italy, his age is just right.

but I think Ganso would be best...too bad he will probably cost a fortune!
