goal.com used to do this when their forum was starting, they had an article on their main page talking about some of the hot topics being discussed in the forums and quoting some of the guys

what we can do is use twitter and FB to do the same thing...we'll basically tell people about whats going on in this forum, we'll put quotes that outsiders would want to respond to, post pull results on hot topics, for example if we tell people about a poll we're %60 said that Messi is over rated all these Messi fanboys will want to register and knock some sense into us...same thing could happen when we post the results of "is ronaldo gay?" you know....

another good idea that i saw in this forum is youtube videos. i guess some of us can put a few clips and in the begining the video will say "goal legacy forums present" and shit like that

so yea, we need a twitter account for the forums...any of you tweeters care to create one ?
