You know... if Ligue 1 actually puts together a couple of elite team (PSG on its way and one of Lyon or Marseille to step up), we're as good as any league. Defensively, we're the best in Europe top to bottom. There's no question there. Very competitive league. But we just lacked multiple elite clubs. Marseille was certainly top echelon in the 90s and Lyon in the 00s. We need at least 2 (preferably 3) to make the league.

Btw, it seems like Chelsea weren't actually interested at all from some of AVB recent quotes.

Zamp was basically just using as a bargaining tool. The c**t.

Well, in my eyes, I don't see a problem if he doesn't play in Italy, Spain or England, or if he doesn't play in CL for at least one more year. He's young, and has still time to play and rock the CL.
I am sure at PSG he will have the chance to fight for CL, and Ligue 1.

I respect PSG's history and I've enjoyed watching some of their former players over the years (Okocha, Pauleta, Leornardo, Anelka, Weah, Dinho, Nene etc) but there's no chance in hell PSG are currently a bigger club than Chelsea.

I'd even argue pre-Roman we were still a bigger club. I mean don't forget PSG are still relatively a "new" club. About 30 years ago (correct me if I'm wrong) your club didn't even exist!

Well if you look at each teams trophy cabinet, they're pretty much the same and if you started counting them from before Chelsea started splashing the cash, PSG has more. PSG is just starting to spend a little late . And with the way they're spending, heavily and on very very good players I can see them winning alot in France and competing in Europe.

I've said this a million times... but i guess i'll need to keep repeating. We pay a lot for players; but WE TURN A PROFIT. It's actually good business. The reason FFP is such a problem for other clubs is that most are run by "sugar daddy" and carry losses.

anyhow, fair enough Gil. PSG is relatively new... but was very successful until they started getting mismanaged in the 00s. They have a monopoly in Paris and a big international fanbase. Like Chelsea, they needed money and an ambitious marketing plan to take it to the next level. The foundation is there... this isn't like City or Malaga where you're trying to invent something out of almost nothing.

How is this supposed to be hilarious..comparing pastore's talent to gago or leon is totally unfair..

Agreed that ludicrous amounts of money is spent here ,no disrespect to PSG but they are club from a relatively inferior league hence it makes all the more difficult to attract some of the most prized assets from the top leagues..

I mean PSG here are competing with some of the top clubs for his signature,hence it turns into an auction and PSG simply have to make the best offer possible to acquire pastore..
U cant really blame pastore on this one..even if he was plying his trade for another club with a less cocky president ,he still IMO would attract atleast 25m on another day..
but kudos to Zamp..he has hit the jackpot..

Rediculous amount of money but 2,3 years of CL could bring the money back.

I hope PSG are not successful because tat would lead to German clubs wanting to have foreign investors as well and nobody here wants that.

U want us to do a player to player comparison now?

psg has to grossly overbid to attract these types of players... we're never going to win getting players against Chelsea, Barca, Madrid, etc. unless we do so. Once we start winning and build our brand up, then we can come back down to earth.

There's no other option.

Btw, i'm actually a Marseille fan at heart... so i feel slightly dirty pulling for PSG. But Ligue 1 needs to get marketing and hype going. I think we're just as good as any league in Europe from top to bottom. We just truly suck at marketing. The bureaucracy is fat and inept + the owners lack the funds. Need to bring some big pockets. If we actually keep our best player given how we develop top talent, watch out.
