Aquillani to Fiorentina
Liverpool midfielder Alberto Aquilani is moving closer to joining Fiorentina as the Italian club's director of sport Pantaleo Corvino gets ready to thrash out talks with agent Franco Zavaglia.
It was Zavaglia who just days ago said his client would not be leaving the Anfield club for a Serie A return following his loan spell at Juventus last term.
But La Gazzetta dello Sport claims that a meeting between Corvino and Zavaglia over a five-year deal will take place on Sunday.
Corvino has flown to Rome to hold crunch talks with the player's representative as he tries to bring in the midfielder as an alternative to Riccardo Montolivo, who wants to leave the Artemio Franchi this summer.
Aquilani is eager to return to the peninsula so he can be close to Italy coach Cesare Prandelli ahead of Euro 2012, and Zavaglia has now suggested a move back to Italy could be possible if his player is told there are no guarantees of regular action with Liverpool.
"Aquilani is still a Liverpool player. However, we have to understand what the project is there and speak with them," he was quoted as saying by La Gazzetta dello Sport.
"After, we will evaluate things. I don't know if there is an agreement already between the two clubs [Liverpool and Fiorentina]."
The Italy international is tied to Liverpool until 2014 following his move from Roma in 2009.

I would hate this move. He's better off at Liverpool.

Re: Aquillani to Fiorentina
I'm interested at the amount Fiorentina is paying for him (if this report is true) Juventus refused to buy him becuase Liverpool valued him at 17 million, I highly doubt Fiorentina will cough up 17 million for him.

No he's not.. There's no need for him there anyways. He will be playing as a starter for Fiorentina replacing Montolivo. Its a great move.

If this is indeed true then it's all but confirmed Montolivo is ours. Good signing Uncle Fester, next up Paulo Henrique Ganso!

I hope that is sarcastic. Liverpool have like 15 midfielders.

Re: Aquillani to Fiorentina
Move broke down
-------------------------------------------------------------
Alberto Aquilani’s proposed loan move to Fiorentina from Liverpool has fallen through, according to Sky Sports.
The two clubs had been in talks over a loan deal with a view to a transfer at the end of the season, but the Italian midfielder is believed to have stalled on the move and is holding out for a permanent switch away from Anfield.
Fiorentina were also unwilling to match Liverpool’s asking price for the 27-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Juventus, and the deal has now collapsed.
La Gazzetta dello Sport also reports that Fiorentina have now turned their attentions towards Santos midfielder Arouca.
The news will come as a blow to Reds boss Kenny Dalglish, who had hoped to use any money raised from Aquilani’s transfer to further reinvest in his squad.

If Pool seriously want to get rid of him, then they should lower his price tag.

Re: Aquillani to Fiorentina
The agent of Liverpool midfielder Alberto Aquilani insists that his client's move to Fiorentina is still a possibility.
A report in England on Thursday claimed the transfer had collapsed due to the 27-year-old's preference for a permanent switch.
The two clubs had been in talks over a loan deal with an option to purchase at the end of the season, but the Italy international is keen on securing a permanent move right away.
Agent Franco Zavaglia has said talks are set to continue as he keeps the door open for the Liverpool man, who is eager to return to Serie A following his loan spell at Juventus last season.
"The transfer is not at risk, and we remain with the possibility [of a move happening]," Zavaglia told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
"There are no ultimatums as you never launch ultimatums in football.
"I don't know what has been reported in England, but I can say the player, having understood he is no longer a part of the plans at Liverpool, wants a permanent solution.
"But the deal is not at risk, we are just waiting."
Aquilani wants regular action in Serie A so he can safeguard his chances of playing for Italy at Euro 2012.

Re: Aquillani to Fiorentina
I think this would be the best solution for him. He'd be practically guaranteed a starting spot with Fiorentina, replacing Montolivo who is all but gone. He needs to play consistently and therefore stay away from injuries which have plagued his career up to now.
