We play better without Ronaldo/Ronaldo is finished/let **** play usually dies down the moment the going gets tough and you actually need a big game player to bring it.
Ronaldo aint doing shit, worst player on the pitch imo

Not like Ronaldo did anything when he came on.
But yeah super happy for Morocco. As an Egyptian-Canadian this is a great moment for us.

This World Cup is a world cup of keepers, we're seeing some of the most impressive series of goalkeeping in a tournament i'd like to think.
Bono, Livakovic, Martinez - we'll see who joins them tonight in Lloris v Pickford

It’s nice to see Morocco go through. Ziyech has been a fav of mine a while. In hindsight, Ronaldo should’ve started- really had a small hope of a Ronaldo vs Messi final. Morocco was the better team with much more organization.

First African team in WC semifinals, all while topping group stages and conceeding one goal which was an OG.

That OG vs Canada is the only goal conceded by Morocco under Walid Regragui
Of course still undefeated (in 8 games) and not against easy opponents

Re: World Cup 2022 - Quarter-Finals
Honestly wonder what's next for Ronaldo.
Those tears at the end were him crying about his legacy. Zero G/A in WC knockout rounds, getting memed the entire tournament, and that entire United debacle from earlier this season. If Messi wins the WC, he'll be sent to the edge.
He and his family still think he's the best in the world, but I wonder if he feels humbled now. Especially when you consider that Portugal benched him too. So it wasn't just a Ten Hag problem.
He's a free agent, and it's unlikely he's going to get a big move. I'm sure the plan was to use the WC to rehab his image, but it made things worse. You'd assume that he thinks he's still to good to play in Saudi even if they're offering 200M a year. That makes me wonder...
Retirement pending?

Re: World Cup 2022 - Quarter-Finals
This is why the world cup is the top competition in football, not the champions league. Less room for mistakes, and whilst some teams might have better players, there are some opponents that go "its 90 minutes, we'll play super hard while the game is still on". with 2 legged ties, there's room for error and adjustments in the champions league. Also you lose one year you just sign top players to come back the next year.
I wonder where i really rank neymar as far as brazil's greats. i used to have him ahead of rivaldo, but i have to demote him. the tournament in 2014 was supposed to be his; that injury saved him from germany in my opinion. Now in this tournament, with the lack of talent across the board, he was supposed to make a mark and he didn't.
cristiano will be on suicide watch should argentina win this. he will probably tweet how great he is and retire. i think its been a tournament of goalies

Honestly if Messi wins the WC it would be ridiculously on brand for PR7 to announce his retirement the day of, or next day. His fanboys will flood “GOAT” tributes on his behalf. Genius marketing strategy.

Re: World Cup 2022 - Quarter-Finals
IMO, you lot are making this WC about Messi and Ronaldo when it’s more about
-the decline of Europeans,
-the porteros and
- PSG in that it’s their players leading most teams doing well, Messi, Mbappe, Hakimi and Neymar (although the latter faulted in the end).

Re: World Cup 2022 - Quarter-Finals
I'm probably going to be in the minority as usual, but I think this WC would be really interesting if England can beat France and Croatia can beat Argentina. Most of the high profiles names would be out of the tournament, but even with Croatia probably being the remaining favorite, I wouldn't confidently guess who'd end up winning it at that point.

I personally think it’s France’s to lose, although they are currently having difficulty handling England.

Re: World Cup 2022 - Quarter-Finals
Yeah.. no offense to England, I have English heritage myself, but I don't think their overall quality can quite compete with that of France. It is an international tournament, though, so if they can somehow manage to build up some momentum and draw morale to their side, I wouldn't be surprised if they do beat a generally superior side in France.

Really sad that all the decisions are going mostly in France's favour. Why would you give England an excuse for losing the game

Re: World Cup 2022 - Quarter-Finals
I thought France will put England on sword but France attacking wise are being so respectful to England, no idea why
That defence with Maguire and Shaw should be taken apart if France try to be a bit more creative.
