BarrileteCosmico wrote:@Lord Spencer the manner of the victory today was a win for football, but obviously a petro state's plaything winning is not great. Then again neither is a billionaire's or oligarch's plaything, and that just about sums up all the available choices in the PL.
I still maintain that a state is a different beast to a single.or conglomerate of oligarchs.

no offence but Klopp has one EPL in 5 seasons. How does that make him the best in the world??????
The point difference between one title and three titles is 3 points across two seasons. Only an absolute idiot would discount this achievement.
Ofcourse "best" is highly subjective.
This is the reality of competing against state-funded teams. Expect similar results for Newcastle once the oil proxy pens wars begin.and Liverpool are hardly this poor team going up against a team that hogs all the WC players. Spare me....
Liverpool were great and this was a great title race but proclaiming Klopp as the best just because he "competed" is laughable
So you are saying that with a three points swing across two seasons, one coach is great and another is shit?
Same as in Series A season this year, where idiots would discount the work of two coaches if either of them failed by a point.
Idiotic perspective

Sure Hala, yesterday Klopp’s cycle was over but now they are underachieving, anything else to add?

Hala neither said they underachieved (not in the recent activity of this thread anyway) nor did he call Klopp shit. He just mentioned why is he considered best in the world with 1 league title in 5 years.
Hala is still guilty of other more nefarious things.

We dont believe in the concept of selling. So, net spend is essentially for us total spend.

Klopp doesnt have maybe as much depth but they've signed incredible, incredible players..... VVD, Alisson, Salah, Mane, Firmino, Jota, now Thiago and Diaz are absolutely perfect players in every way imaginable. They've made plenty of transfers to shape their team. Fabinho, Keita werent cheap either. They made A LOT of money back on Coutinho and Suarez though.
I don't understand why people act as if other clubs grow players on trees.
The current Liverpool squad was pretty expensive except for Robertson (and TAA who came up from the academy). Cant be bothered to add every fee up but it was a lot.

They still spent less money than Everton, and have a lower wage bill than City.
It's not difficult to understand why its an amazing accomplishment to compete against clubs of significantly more financial muscle, which is why Klopp's Dortmund team is legendary.
Sure, player by player, Liverpool's squad is roughly similar to City, but they are assembled at less cost, and they cannot afford to sign expensive flops (which they will probably rarely do since they have excellent scouting).
For their money, City are actually absolutely getting value from their spending, only overpaying for squad players (like Ake) or the occasional English prospect (Graelish). But, if not for the excellent scouting, coaching, and direction, they would be spending money idiotically like Everton and United.
QSG, if they weren't in France, wouldn't dominate as much, since they are not as good as City in spending their money. Still, unless the club is completely idiotic, like Everton, United, and Banter-era Milan, spending money often correlates with success.

Re: 2021/2022 Premier League Discussion
You know, 4 PL in 5 years is very impressive, especially when there's Klopp as well in the mix.
I kinda wish SAF had stayed for a few more years. It would've been epic to see the two best league managers in the world go head to head every single season, and I'm not so sure that the bald fraud would still be able to win 4 out of 5 PL in that scenario.

Acquiring the top talent around and being able to assemble those talents in a cohesive, tactical setup is what leads to success. Doesn't matter if a club has to spend little or a lot of money in the pursuit of that goal, as long as they make it happen. Obviously, having a greater budget is a privilege that provides you with more options. Sometimes individual talent trumps group cohesion, but ideally you'd want both. I believe that the hierarchy, structure, and financial muscle of a club is the only constant factors in determining a club's success, and I will die on this hill

no doubt about it. Just one regret is "had we signed Diaz earlier" as I have posted numerous times that usual front three's output was going down season after season. Diaz completely refreshed our attack by taking the attention away from Salah/Mane.
Anyways congratulations to Pep. No matter what we say, Pep knows how to build great teams. Today's victory proves that. Even though Pep lost in CL, I still think his team in another season would have won both EPL and CL.
So in the last 4-5 seasons, who has been a better manager than Klopp ? I mean who still actually has a job of "manager"

I think Klopp has been fantastic, he’s staying competitive with a team that personally I feel play the best football in the world and a team that has a manager who excels in league play. Haaland will elevate city to a whole new level next season though, so I see city dominance lasting for a while in England.
