We have missed being a 'team' for the last 3 years. It's impossible managing that with a superstar with a big ego and someone who is hurting the balance of the starting eleven as well.

That’s absolutely the reason. It’s because he knows now that Messi is at PSG he’s going to be stat padding more CL’s and Ballon d’or which will make Ronaldo look worse in comparison. His only hope to match up is to join a super team himself. That’s why he had Mendes hitting up City and told Aguirre to tell the media he’s talking about a potential return to Madrid (which Ancelotti hilariously shut down).

With Messi winning Copa America, moving out of Barca, and about to win his 7th ballon d’or Ronaldo knows he needs to leave to maintain the comparisons.
