Ruben Dias
This guy has transformed City's defense. I didn't see much of him before he joined City, but I was under the impression he'd be one of those ball-playing CB's who are prone to brainfarts. City fans were pessimistic about him considering he was City's third-choice option behind Koulibaly and Kounde.
His performances have proved his all doubters wrong though. He's had a Van Dijk esque impact on City's backline. Hell, he's even made John Stones look legit these days too. He's City's defensive leader at 23 years-old. It seems like they have found their Kompany replacement.
Is he the real deal or do you think he'll let City down come the CL quarters like Laporte does yearly. What's the GL consensus?

Re: Ruben Dias
Looks quality sadly. The difference yesterday was that they had Dias and Stones (who also looks good btw right now somehow) where as we had limp dick Lindelof and captain Maguire.

Re: Ruben Dias
Hard to say.
We’ve seen plenty of times players goat it the first season and after that become trash and sometimes the opposite first season is bad and they become better the next.
Nevertheless Dias has had plenty of hype in Portugal I think nick here hyped him before or at least some Dias guy could’ve been someone else.
I’d also add as dany mention Pep has been a bit more defence and direct in his football this season that has benefitted his defence too. City defence has been so bad that any decent defender will make it look good lol

Re: Ruben Dias
Decent player but it's all about the set up.
And never again compare him to the great Van Dijk please.

Re: Ruben Dias
Proper leader. Him and Stones have been an excellent CB duo.

Re: Ruben Dias
Perhaps like Van Dijk's impact at Liverpool? Hoepfully, making the defense around him stronger... if so could be the basis of Man C's defense for years to come, every top team needs a top CB which Man C havent really had after Kompany?

Re: Ruben Dias
POTY getting murdered by 5'6 Rodrigo in the air and concedes a penalty, but he's rated by twitter merchants for 2 games against PSG.

Nah he's good. Next Ricardo Carvalho it looks like to me just a tad stronger and a bit better in the air due to height.

Re: Ruben Dias
Great game. Completely nullified Benzema until the end.
Wouldn't talk about it if Grealish scored a goal.

Re: Ruben Dias
He literally gave away a penalty and got beaten by Rodrygo for the first goal

So?
For 90 minutes, he kept the best striker in the world relatively quiet. If his strikers did their job, then his mistakes wouldn't be an issue.
People pretend like WC defenders like Maldini and Nesta stopped 100% of attacks against them.
Freaking hyperbole machines.

He honestly did have a good game. But getting out jumped by Rodrygo would leave a stain, no lie. Oh, and I forgot he gave up the PK. Well, he had a good game up until then I suppose.
Still a good CB imo
