Because you need to divide the overall number with all the games at the end. That way the longer competitions are weighted correctly in the overall avg.

Tom Brady and Steph Curry are workout animals fyi (Brady retired; so was). It's their intense crazy regimen that kept them at peak performance for so long.

Of course, Lebron is the one who really is incredible at his age... and he never misses practice or working out.
