Re: The Lionel Messi Appreciation Thread & Fan Club IV
your maths ain't mathing, Harmonica
8,25 + 8,28 + 7,86 = 24,39
24,39 / 3 = 8,13
it's still the best, but at least be honest
Saka
PL: 7,40
WC: 7,68
Avg = 7,54
That's equal to Haaland, better than KdB, Lewa and Benz
8,25 + 8,28 + 7,86 = 24,39
24,39 / 3 = 8,13
it's still the best, but at least be honest
Saka
PL: 7,40
WC: 7,68
Avg = 7,54
That's equal to Haaland, better than KdB, Lewa and Benz

Re: The Lionel Messi Appreciation Thread & Fan Club IV
That doesn't make sense. It's an avg of all the games in the three competitions.El Gunner wrote:your maths ain't mathing, Harmonica

Re: The Lionel Messi Appreciation Thread & Fan Club IV
isn't the 8,25 already the average rating of the 7 world cup games though? So why do you have to multiply it again by 7 i know i'm probably wrong, but that was my thinking

Re: The Lionel Messi Appreciation Thread & Fan Club IV
Because you need to divide the overall number with all the games at the end. That way the longer competitions are weighted correctly in the overall avg.El Gunner wrote:isn't the 8,25 already the average rating of the 7 world cup games though? 8,25*7+8,28*32+7,86*7=8,21*46 (avg*games)

i truly hope Messi keeps fit over the next few years and defends the Copa and WC. He has nothing to lose and a lot more to gain. Plus the vibes in this team are just too immaculate. They could be clear favourites for the next WC if they somehow uncover a really good DM (a Rodri or Casemiro type)

He’ll be 90 and on crutches and the lot of you will still expect him to be a standout. But given, he doesn’t want to practice anymore, maybe he can save his strength for games!

Re: The Lionel Messi Appreciation Thread & Fan Club IV
Well unlike Ronaldo and Mbappe he is a pure natural baller and was never hyperdependent on speed and reflexes... just needs to take a few tips from Tom Brady and Steph Curry on how to keep his body as fresh as possible now that he is in America

Tom Brady and Steph Curry are workout animals fyi (Brady retired; so was). It's their intense crazy regimen that kept them at peak performance for so long.
Of course, Lebron is the one who really is incredible at his age... and he never misses practice or working out.

i know, Brady retired at 45 though, that's why i mentioned him.
LeBron just came off his worst playoff performance ever, the age definitely showed... don't look at the stats, as Luka Doncic said it's easier to score in the NBA than in Euro basketball

Re: The Lionel Messi Appreciation Thread & Fan Club IV
LeBron also was dealing with an injury in his foot that needs surgery on and still averaged around 25/10/7 at the age of 38 lmao. It's only easier to score in Europe probably because of the rules, definitely not because of the players lmaoEl Gunner wrote:i know, Brady retired at 45 though, that's why i mentioned him.

you mean *harder, and yes i didn't imply otherwise re: rules vs players
as i said, don't look at the stats.
not hating on LeBron, Messi can also take some tips from him, sure. But LeBron is a physical specimen unlike most, i see Brady and Curry advice being more fitting for Messi's persona and body type.

Messi is done competing, he already said that he achieved everything he wanted to achieve. I think he also ruled out participating in the next WC

I think lebron and messi have smiliarties, messi physique is very advantageous for the way he plays like lebron and also, both have extremely high IQs for their sport.El Gunner wrote:you mean *harder, and yes i didn't imply otherwise re: rules vs players
