My guess is Dutch league, hence top 7? Which begs the guestion what's the other no top 5 league? I did like how media falsely reported Tadic breaking Messi's record few days back, but it included friendlies. Now how many of them will own their mistake and correct it? My prediction is 0.

I think his great ball control while running helps his shooting, its like he controls it with his hands and puts the ball in perfect position for shooting.
The goal vs AC milan is the perfect example of this. His ability to set himself up is insane, not just while sprinting but in general:

The one vs Nigeria in WC2018 was pretty insane too.
Forget the touch to bring the ball down, it's the touch to put the ball in position before striking it that is actually more impressive:

How you figure out how much pressure to put on the ball at that speed is beyond me. That is some high level shit.

This is turning out to be a better advertisement for Ligue 1 than Messi actually joining Ligue 1

He's getting bullied and, like Neymar, nobody cares that he's Messi. He doesn't get preferential treatment from referees or anyone else.
Ibra literally beat respect out of his opponents in the league. They tried to bully him early on... and he beat the shit out of them lol. Different adjustment by Mbappe... they hack him so he learned how to beat them without the ball so that he has space once he gets it. Di Maria also figured it out... he plays fast.
That's the key in this league... you have to move without the ball and play fast with it. If you linger on the ball or stand still, you will get hacked.

What a BS narrative you're trying to push, while conveniently trying to make Ligue 1 look good.
Messi dominated the fk out of Copa America which is 10 times more brutal and physical than Ligue 1, and he's been doing that for years.
Despite being "bullied", he still managed to unlock the defense on more than 1 occasion against Lorient while PSG were complete and utter shit:
Re: The Lionel Messi Appreciation Thread & Fan Club IV
league 1 fans are :d. trying to prove their league is the toughest one by a logic that involves grandpa legend who stopped running for now what 10 years! No matter what way you look at it, the best you can prove is Messi is worst outside his comfort zone (not sure how good that logic would be when the player is at 34 years age and only spent half a season). But your league will always be remembered as a farmer league. Forget about Messi, even if you can keep Mbappe you will not be able to get rid of that tag. Your biggest achievement is you have got all-time high viewership by keeping MNM together which won't last more than a season as it seems.

Imagine thinking Di Maria figured something out that Messi hasn't.
Also Ramos Messi connection.

Re: The Lionel Messi Appreciation Thread & Fan Club IV
With Covid, the talent that would have otherwise left Ligue 1 has stayed. That's why Ligue 1 is the top-ranking league from a club UEFA coefficient standpoint in European competitions this season. It's very very good. I expect an exodus in a year or two depending on Covid.
Copa America is a tournament with 7 games max. No disrespect to the teams... but it's not tougher than Ligue 1. It's way worse. I looked at the players and more than half the players on the teams at least weren't in the top 5 leagues in Europe.
The best players come to Europe. But that's just a few players per team other than Brazil, Argentina, and Uruguay. The 3rd place game was Peru v Colombia and I only saw about 10 players on those teams total in Europe.
Nowhere near the competition that it once was. CONMEBOL is closer to CONCACAF than UEFA.

I would expect Messi to unlock the defenses of 19th place with 31 goals conceded Lorient.

Zlatan was a striker who had dirty work done for. Messi is a playmaker who does the dirty work. So Zlatan figured it's easier to score as a striker, than playmaker?

Lionel Messi successfully completed 11 dribbles against Lorient tonight – no other player across the top 5 European leagues completed more in a single league match this season.

Re: The Lionel Messi Appreciation Thread & Fan Club IV
No one is claiming that Copa America is a higher level competition than Ligue 1. I was merely talking about the brutality and physicality of that tournament which Messi handles just fine, since you were pretending that he's weak and was getting bullied, which is just flat out wrong.
Sometimes people forget it's Lionel fucking Messi. The game adjusts to HIM. The teams adjust to HIM, no matter what country, what tournament.
All that at 34 years old. People are just waiting for him to fail so they can say "See I told you so", as if that would prove anything regarding his greatness even if he did fail.

He's trolling, no one thinks Ligue is more brutal competition than Copa. Copa is war compared to lady football in Uefa.

"Brutal competition" South America is where all the diving, playacting, and contact avoidance started.

Messi isn't even half the player he used to be. if he was he would have 15 goals in Ligue 1 by now.

He barely attacks the box. When he does run near it he stands at the edge of the box waiting for a cutback pass from Mendes in Alba style which never comes.

It's pretty funny to watch Messi arrive to box, to never get the back pass.

He looked frustrated from that the last time I saw PSG. I think it was Wijnaldum who he got annoyed by because he shot it instead of letting it run past him.

Vineyard has been awful the past few games. They guy hardly touches the ball, nevermind passes it for Messi. I saw Messi hugging him pre match, and the look he gave wasn't natural. I predict sell january if PSG get an another midfielder.

He's completely useless on the ball. Liverpool fans hated him for it too. You can find posts from Mole in 2015 when Gini used to play for Newcastle where he complained about the same exact thing. He's good at making runs from deep and holding onto the ball under pressure, but on the ball, he offers no penetration and no progression whatsoever. If you look at PSG's passmaps he's completely disconnected from the rest of the team.

No wonder why Barça were so after him in the summer. He's the exact profile they are missing in midfield right nowCasciavit wrote:Harmonica wrote:Vineyard has been awful the past few games. At least Gini can run into the box and score. His scoring rate is pretty impressive when he has the license to move forward, which wasn't always the case under Klopp as Klopp preferred him to play deeper to cover for Trent.
He's like Gundogan, but with no personality on the ball, creativity, or passing ability. He'll attack the box, he's press resistant, and he has an engine, but asking him to take any initiative while he has the ball is a lost cause.
This was his pass map against Lille:
He's an absolute ghost in midfield. It isn't a one off either.
It's like this almost every game. He doesn't make himself available for the pass, and when he does he'll just pass it sideways. MNM absolutely hate playing with him. Especially Messi since Gini usually plays as a RCM while Messi chills in the right half-space, so getting a direct pass in that area is impossible. Gini is a midfield passenger. He's best off as a second striker, if he isn't tasked with covering Hakimi's back like he did for Trent.
