Re: General Games Discussion
One of the best of this gen? I could name like 15 games are better lol.
The mission design for an open world game is the sort of stuff that Ubisoft gets canned for.

Re: General Games Discussion
Its definitely in my top 10, in fact barely misses my top 5. I found the gameplay loop very satisfying and the various ways you can tackle a mission made it miles more fun than Ubisoft's cookie cutter checklist missions.
I always think how much better this and FF15 could have been if they actually got to be finished. Would have been as good as MGS3/FFX.

Well that's disappointing, combat looks like scripted shite. Made for AC generation.

The skulls encounters & the metal gear in mission 31 is so trash. Not even fun playing against them.

Re: General Games Discussion
Finished Yakuza 0 (skipped 90% of the side content)
probably sneaks into my top 10 this gen
story is top 5 easily, but the gameplay is a little outdated and clunky
OST and bosses are so damn good though
gonna eventually get around to the rest of the series

Don’t, you’ll get burnt out. You might want to play the remake of the first one, as well as the last one, but 3-5 are a step down story-wise and you’ll get tired of revisiting the same areas. Yakuza 6 has a good story, but there’s a long and somewhat boring start to the game that is largely non-essential to the story.

Re: General Games Discussion
I'm not planning on playing them anytime soon (blood and wine and then nier next)
my original plan was to just play 0, read up on the story and then play 6 (but I hear meh things about it overall) and then be ready for 7's english release
I may play Judgment though since it's self contained but again, I hear bad things about the detective busy work in that game

Feel the same way, also is there any reason why you didn't like it in 2017 but enjoyed it now?

Re: General Games Discussion
I played Nioh, Horizon Zero Dawn and Persona back to back to back and then was burned out with Yakuza IIRC (on top of having a close family member pass away during that same period of time)
wasn't a knock on Yakuza itself, after playing those games within like 2 months of each other (playing non-stop since they're all long) I don't think I played a game until God of War a year later lol

Re: General Games Discussion
Fair enough, yeah i probably wouldn't have enjoyed it in that scenario.
There's a reason i took a 2 week break in the middle of playing Persona 5 that year. I would probably have burnt out that year if i didn't do that as i played so much stuff that year.

nah man naaaaah
the substories are hilarious. Can't be skipping them smh.
And that cabaret club minigame is stupidly addictive. Real estate is decent too.

Re: General Games Discussion
Yeah M99 is right on this lol.
The fact this game can manage to stradle the line between a Super serious main plot and super whacky side quests without it feeling disjointed is an achievement.

Re: General Games Discussion
I did a few, a lot were miss more than hit
some were hilarious though (meeting some random girls dad as majima)
also I remember seeing around that Kiryu has never killed anyone in the series, but I guess that's a meme since I racked up a John Wick tier body count during the shooting scene in the taxi, which was straight out of a 90s arcade game lmao
unreal shooting mechanics
I think it's a top 3 OST this gen though, ridicuously good

Didn't you start on Yakuza 0 before you got bored and moved on to those other games? Think I recall you giving up on Yakuza very early on. You mentioned something about the large guy who randomly appears around the city and challenges you to a fight, and then you said the game wasn't for you or something along those lines.

Nah, I think it's possible I started Y0 before Persona but definitely not before Nioh and Horizon

Re: General Games Discussion
It was definitely before Persona 5 because you mentioned having gotten to Majima's introduction part around the time when we were all playing Persona.
How was Persona 5 ultimate by the way, Mole? Was it worth another play through?

Did you do the real estate and cabaret club at all? Finishing them unlocks the fourth fighting style. Dragon for Kiryu and Mad Dog for Majima. They are both insanely fun and OP.

Hope it sells well so they don't forget about the franchise. I want more Mafia games.
