Rivaldo was past it though...its like he hit quit game after winning the World Cup and just coasted to playing for like 10 more years for random teams. We had a lot of world class players we got past their prime even when we were in our prime. Rivaldo, Redondo, Vieri. Most struggled with injuries.

Casillas
Thiago Silva
Nesta
Maldini
Iniesta
Seedorf
Pirlo
Kaka
Messi
Inzaghi
Robben
The Milan players and Messi were easy. The Milan players were central to my childhood and a big reason I love football, and watching Messi brings joy like no other player.
Casillas was an incredible keeper in his prime, astonishing reflexes and really classy off the pitch as well. Iniesta is one of my favourite players for, as cliche as it might sound, just the pure elegance with which he plays. It’s astonishing the way he would glide past players so effortlessly and pull out insane passes time and time again. Robben is one of the most exhilarating players I ever saw, the way he could create danger out of nothing was incredible, and his pace was electrifying even as he aged.

I'm judging you for not putting Urby at CAM.

I kind of love Abate for his legend status on GL.
No judgement here.

Re: Your Most beloved players XI
Would be fun if we did a separate one for players that don't play for the team we support. Most of us obviously have majority of players from the teams we support. Here's mine without Milan/Brazil.
Buffon
Zanneti-Cannavaro-Ayala-Cole
De Rossi-Ballack
Robben-Zidane-CR7
Totti
Zanneti-Cannavaro-Ayala-Cole

Messi Elano Matuidi Ronaldinho
Podolski

Ronaldo(the Brazilian) Milito (Batistuta)
I' ve tried to forgotten that Vidic at Inter, he was one of my favorite defenders before joining here. Same for Batistuta .

I take this opportunity to say that Bixente Lizarazu was great but except - perhaps Bayern fans, no one never reminds him

Re: Your Most beloved players XI
i don't know what the term for it is, maybe inverted wingers, guys that play on the opposite side. was robert pires the first of that kind. players who played on the opposite side existed, but a lot of times it was more for convenience (if you didn't have a left footed player, you just played some attacking player who was good in that role); but with pires i think he was the first of his kind who was super comfortable and great playing there, to the point i don't even think he could play right wing....then guys like ronaldinho cristiano messi robben made it popular
agree about lizerazu btw, dude was stubborn, hated coming up against bayern with him effenberg elber and those boys

For a while Milan was a must go team for washed up stars.

Rivaldo, Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Robinho, Emerson, Vieri, Beckham off the top of my head.
Even their own stars got their return, Shevchenko, Kaka, Leonardo, Ibrahimović

If we are counting the years we were not in our prime there's more. Zambrotta, Torres, Reina (dependable backup tho), Mexes (again good backup).
