Re: Calcio Saga 19/20
I'm struggling to see how we've basically had two weeks of such exciting games in the league as it may have to do with attack minded-coaches flooding the league now more and adopting different tactical rituals.
Today has been no different.
Roma's defence aside (Fazio again Mancini inclusion aside) I am loving Fonseca's attack minded possession play with Roma and it is bringing out the best in their front line even if Kluivert is still struggling at the wavelength of this role. Kolarov in particular is revelling in this freedom even if we know his zeal will cost him sooner or later.
Zaniolo has looked very impressive and dominant in attack hitting the post twice and taking on the Lazio defence with no hesitance and good to see him doing so after a quiet first game.
Off the record ever since Reddit shut their football streams anyone have the best site/source for football streams?
Roja, from.hot etc are all offering many options yet the choppy streams given make it feel like its 2010 again.
Would appreciate your finest suggestions.

Re: Calcio Saga 19/20
No clue how we went into HT leading. Midfield cut to pieces, leaving the defense utter exposed to Lazio's pace and passing ability. Lazzari was wide open a on a few occasions on Kolarov's flank so Kluivert isn't tracking back. Only area that looks solid are the attackers, we hit the post twice so not all that solid.

Re: Calcio Saga 19/20
1-1 and deserved. Inzaghi is a clever manager the way pressure put on the wide areas nullified any threat Roma had and had them concede a mistake which lead to Immobile being stubborn with the ball in the box refusing to pass laterally, for when he found no space he turned around brilliantly and found Luis Alberto who slotted it past the GK to equal it. Brilliant from Immobile.
And of course Fazio was nowhere to be found but acting as a wall to block Alberto rather than being mobile enough to block him up front.
Have some balls and put in Smalling or at least try him.

Re: Calcio Saga 19/20
Shambolic 2nd half from Roma and Fonseca was taught a lesson from Inzaghi who adapted well with the mentioned changes to stifle the midfield and dominate the best part of the game.
Immobile was tireless in bringing the ball forward and Roma had little answer for the deft flair of Correa along with SMS just gaining central control of the midfield.
The ball just was not being delivered to Roma's central positions was not helped by Zaniolo's lack of width (of course he is played as inside forward again) and Kluivert refusing to track back, and just being an all around passive prima donna.
Dzeko was fantastic and repeatedly roasted their wide areas and dribbling past the fullbacks on several occasions yet was not helped by a team still not on the same wavelength to Fonseca's demanding ideas, resorting to their shells at times.
If Lazio did get that late winner it would have been deserved and they look far more exciting this year especially given how boring Inzaghi and his squad can be.
Fantastic match nonetheless.
(And thanks Elitedam )

Re: Calcio Saga 19/20
Unreal how we got a point out of that game. We practically stole it. Lazio were clearly the better side and probably deserved a win.
I don't think Fonseca's football philosophy has taken hold yet. Zaniolo and Kluivert were too selfish at times to have bought into it. Both ruined excellent attacking maneuvers with poor decision-making. They have to improve and use their teammates. Kolarov struggled with Lazzari on the left flank as Kluivert absolutely refused to track back and help him. We didn't see a lot of Under today because he was busy helping Florenzi deal with attacks down the right. I have no issues with that as we looked better on that side.
Some good performances (Dzeko and Lopez) and some rather poor ones (Kluivert and Cristante). None of our newest signings outside of Lopez have seen much action yet so until that happens, Fonseca is still effectively trying to apply his tactics to EDF's team. We'll see some odd performances until this team resembles more of what he wants and not before.

Kluivert plays like a seasoned winner who has the entitlement of the freedom to what what he wants yet is not performing in such fashion this season and it is frustrating to watch. Ünder has been a bright spot even if I dont particularly hold too much faith in a high ceiling for him.
Kolarov is at the point and attacking zeal where he will need someone to track back to assists him given he does not have the pace nor the stamina now to cover both ends given his attacking greed.
Cristante for as skilled as he is turns into a the deer-in-headlights gaze that is so common for him when the pressure mounts and I remember this from day one when Milanisti were clamouring for him to be played despite proving nothing.
Fonseca's ambition is remarkable but indeed will take a long time to take into effect, not due to its difference with EDF's own brand of attack but for all it demands off of players who were not used to such demands of movement and positioning.

Re: Calcio Saga 19/20
Cagliari: Olsen; Pisacane, Ceppitelli, Klavan; Nandez, Rog, Nainggolan, Ionita, Pellegrini; Joao Pedro, Cerri
Cagliari bench: Rafael, Aresti, Pinna, Mattiello, Cigarini, Birsa, Oliva, Lykogiannis, Ragatzu, Castro, Romagna, Simeone
Inter: Handanovic; D’Ambrosio, Ranocchia, Skriniar; Candreva, Vecino, Brozovic, Sensi, Asamoah; Lukaku, Lautaro Martinez
Cagliari
Inter bench: Padelli, Berni, Godin, Gagliardini, Sanchez, Politano, Lazaro, Borja Valero, Dimarco, Barella, Esposito, Baston
Not such a different line-up this time around from Conte (surprise). Rano over Godin just blows my mind no matter what stalwart he is or what experience he holds in Inter. Sanchez on the bench and should be interesting to see Lautaro and Lukaku pair up together again.
As for Cagliari, hope Nainggolan summons the deep clogged reserves of tar in his lungs to destroy Inter's midfield but highly unlikely given this weak Cagliari side.

Re: Calcio Saga 19/20
1-1 so far in the 58th min. Cagliari-Inter
Frustrating match for Inter who've faced a good tactical performance from the Sardinians and held off Lukaku well who had made a total fool of himself thinking his tricks would work in a well drilled defence like this, outside of his physicality.
Should end 1-1 based on the current pace.

I knew he was the best signing we made in years after last week when the second he came on against Udinese, he received the ball under pressure overcame it then broke 2 lines to find Calhanoglu in his very first play.
Aside from that, I'm a big fan. He's a very progressive midfielder. He's always looking forward. He can advance play by dribbling or through passing. He's not a sideways passing merchant and is regularly finding players between the lines with his vertical passing. He's pretty combative so he isn't just all style but has some bite to him too.
Great scouting work ES.

Rebic is joining Milan. I can't say I've seen much of him WC aside, but it's great to know I'll never have to see that anorexic pansy Castillego start again.

Re: Calcio Saga 19/20
I dont rate Rebic as highly as others on the forum but swapping him for Andre Silva (who is already in Frankfurt) is wise even if I myself believe in the potential of Silva far higher than most here.
He is not to show up in the big moments but can be exciting with his direct duels, versatility and has all around presence on the pitch though definitely not a goalscorer by any means.

After years in Premier League, first Serie A away match for him , and he receives racist chants
What should a foreign footballer thinking then ?
What a terrible figure makes Italian football because of these morons

It nullifies the truly good things going for this league when shit like that happens.
The league MUST punish Cagliari for this. They failed to do it when it happened to Kean and they have another chance to do it now with the chants having been so clearly heard.
