Won't be as good without Levine.
Probably be another Bioshock 2
But still hyped. Will play it anyways.

Re: General Games Discussion
Bioshock 2 wasn't a bad game tbh, it's just that expectations were too high after the first one.
On its own it is still a very good game IMHO.

I think it improved on the gameplay but the story was quite uninteresting. It relied too much on the tapes of Andrew Ryan despite his story being done. Thought the DLC were far superior to the actual game imo.

Man it looks like it's going to take while to get through Skyrim.

Re: General Games Discussion
I barely even remember Bioshock 2. Remembered I enjoyed but definitely not memorable bar maybe the Big Sister variation. I never was a fan of Rapture itself despite the art direction and design, way too dark and claustrophobic and second being in the same is what made it unoriginal.
Infinite on the other hand for me was by far my favourite. Unforgettable game and best opening sequence in a video game of all time.

I think it's more likely it's better than Bioshock 2 tbh.
Should be remembered that Bioshock 2 was made by a B team with little development time, it might not have the storytelling prowess without Levine. But i feel like a Bioshock game made from the ground up that's given time will be much closer to Infinite or Bioshock than it will be to Bioshock 2.

Both consoles respective fan boys probably still don't know how to deal with that logically.

Re: General Games Discussion
Little Update: I like The Witcher a lot. It's linear but I grew up with Final Fantasy before I played "normal" RPGs so I have no issues with that. I prefer linear but a lively world with lots of dialogs and stuff going on in a dense region to a huge but empty open world with lots of useless NPCs just standing around (could never get into Oblivion for that reason).
I'm in Chapter III now (doing every possible quest, yes, I'm binge gaming).
Only criticism for a game from 2008: loading screens when entering new regions. Gothic I did it like 7 years before. Loading screen when walking up the stairs of the pub? Please. I hope that's not the case in Part II anymore.
Otherwise I can't fault the game as a whole, only little things. The need to read books to get knowledge to loot enemies can be annoying as there seem to be gazillions of books.

OW 3rd anniversary in a few days, haven't played for a couple years but I've been craving a casual MP game recently so gonna get back into it.

I'll always have great memories of Overwatch early on, but it's so different now.
I don't think i could play it past some casual games here and there, but comp is a no go now.

Re: General Games Discussion
Witcher 1 and 2 are mediocre games, basically pipe runs with bad game mechanics. They should've choices&consequences but I only played them on the release, that I don't remember how much that is the case. Tried starting again after rebuying them on Steam, but just couldn't get past the bad game mechanics.

George R.R. Martin has confirmed he has "consulted" on a game from Japan.
I think you guys can figure out the rest.

Re: General Games Discussion
George RR Martin has apparently joined forced with FromSoftware, creators of the git gud Soulsborne collection of videogames like Bloodborne, Dark Souls, and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. But don’t assume it’s going to be set in the world of Game of Thrones, as rumours have it that this game - titled Great Rune, supposedly - is set in the Norse world, exploring Norse mythology and all its dark legends.
Whisperings began circling on the internet in early 2019 and went into a lot more detail about what players can expect: you’ll be invading kingdoms and stealing the powers of their rulers after a FromSoftware-style battle, which will then serve you well when you have to fight other kings.
Per Gamesradar
It's supposedly going to be MS press conference at E3.

Re: General Games Discussion
Also it's apparently open world but considering games media throws open world like a buzz world to feel cool and did so with God of War i'd take it with a grain of salt until we see the game.

Re: General Games Discussion
Technically all Souls games are "open world"
Btw this is what GRRM said.

And me? I’m still here, and I’m still busy. As a producer, I’ve got five shows in development at HBO (some having nothing whatsoever to do with the world of Westeros), two at Hulu, one on the History Channel. I’m involved with a number of feature projects, some based upon my own stories and books, some on material created by others. There are these short films I am hoping to make, adaptations of classic stories by one of the most brilliant, quirky, and original writers our genre has ever produced. I’ve consulted on a video game out of Japan.

Re: General Games Discussion
Wildest collaboration of all time lol.
But if it's a norse mythology related then it's going to have some incredible boss fights. Probably closer to DS than Sekiro.
can't wait ffs

Elex 2 was obvious, the ending of Elex completely set it up for a sequel. Can't wait.
Piranha Bytes deserves to be much bigger. It's incredible how 30 people with low budget and shitty publishers manage to create games like Elex.

Re: General Games Discussion
Child Of Light is a gem. The art and soundtrack is just beautiful. The story is okay, and gameplay is fine if you like turn based. It got boring though toward the end, felt like they either ran out of budget or ideas. Its a shame Ubisoft is not giving resources for a sequel.
