The Sinking City looks interesting. Can't remember the last time I played a detective- type of game. I never played LA Noire.

Rushed out for release, apparently. Receiving lukewarm criticism from both players and reviewers. A lot of games seem to be rushed out in an unfinished state, these days.

they claim it's been profitable but IDK, I mean, it's recycled assets from other games and just reeked of a cash grab from the start, so maybe?

It was discounted to like £10 very fast.

Of course, they would claim that. All of the shit that game has gone through - class action lawsuit, pre-order cancellations, playerbase quitting left and right, a gazilion complaints, banning the wrong players, refusing refunds, leaking private details of players to the public, false advertisement and shady business methods... and that's just off the top of my head, without even mentioning the actual clusterfuck of a game. I've never even heard of a game that has gone through this many issues. I'm lost for words Laughing

If anyone likes platformers, they really should play Celeste. The blending of the story and gameplay is fantastic. The soundtrack is very good too. A substantial amount of side content, collectibles and difficulty variations add great replay value to it too.

It's not a platformer, it's a metroidvania and i have played it. I don't like it much.

I posted about it before. I haven't finished it but I put like, 12-15 hours into it. Great atmosphere. I'll finish it eventually. (never)

I don't have a tendency to play indie games, especially not the retro ones, but I decided to give it a chance after a student showed it to me, and I figured it would be right up your alley. I'm surprised you didn't like it much. That said, Enter the Gungeon is a good retro, indie game as well :coffee:

Was it the art style you didn't like, or the actual gameplay?

There's a distinction i have tbh, games like Hollow Knight is more about level design and the combat than it is any aspect of platforming.

Games like that i don't consider platformers, as for why i didn't like it was mainly the combat tbh and it doesn't have enough outside of that going for it to set itself apart.

Ori and the Blind Forest which is the other great game of it's type this generation IMO did a much better job of pulling off the other aspects of it's design which weren't gameplay and i preferred the gameplay there anyway.

Completely agree, very emotional doc. We always hear tales of how gruelling the industry is, seeing it is quite something.

I hope we see one for TLOU2, feel like its going to be very insightful with Druckmann

Yeah some of the moments show you how bad it gets tbh, my respect for the people who makes the games has gone up 700% after watching it.

Also some of the comments from Christopher Judge about fatherhood hit me right in the feels.
