Control getting surprisingly lot of love from "critics", I'm loving that.

I personally think both are good games worth playing.

I really enjoyed every Remedy game I played (Alan Wake series, Quantum Break) and they are experts at inventing interesting gameplay mechanics. No doubt will buy Control when it is released on Steam.

Death Stranding is a marmite game. You either love it or hate it. You either get it or you don't. I haven't played it but I will pick it up on sale later this year on Steam. I got friends who are addicted to this game, and others who got bored of playing it after a few hours.

Max Payne too, which introduced the Matrix slow down. Max Payne is one of the best games ever, I also enjoyed Alan Wake, although I mostly avoid story based "games". Nowadays at least. It had wonderful atmosphere and soundtrack. Haven't played the newer ones, and I'm mostly happy just because it's a Finnish company. Their headquarters is like few blocks from me.

Max Payne 3 was so ahead of its predecessors its unreal. Beautiful visuals. Excellent (voice) acting. Brilliant story and the best possible ending you could hope for. Extremely stylish game and shame the trilogy ended in a somewhat bittersweet note.

But the change from Noir based cities to Sunny Rio and the reprisal in the flashbacks was perfect. Amazing score throughout.


Alan Wake I do not remember much of beyond its story but atmospherically I will never forget it. Very strong in that regard. Felt like playing a Stephen King classic on video and was hauntingly accurate to some desolate evergreen areas in USA. Not executed perfectly but very talented art direction behind it. Deserves a sequel.

Remedy no doubt is one of the most original developers out there and Sam Lake is fantastic.

Why? It's been universally praised since launch. It's a great game.

Also agree Arq on Max Payne 3, when it comes to controls and general feel it's one of the most underrated Third Person Shooters of the last decade imo.

Max Payne 3 was a Rockstar game though, not Remedy.

Baldur's Gate EE first game I've tried that can't even be modded to 32:9.

Have you played the FF7 remake demo? I'm curious on people's opinions.

I played 10 minutes of it.

Graphically excellent as you would imagine. Voice acting looks good.

Not sure about the battle system. Looked quite easy. I don't want to play too much though.

2019 GOTYs for me were RE2 Remake, Disco Elysium and Control

Still can't get over the whole game being in Midgar. And they have absolutely no idea how many games they need to complete the full game.
