What a calamity Bartomeu has been for you. Laughing clueless in both the sporting AND business aspects of running a club.

Wow, just realized Real have lost both Ramos AND Varane in one single summer lol, quite amazing development, and goes to show the state of things in the Spanish big 2, its quite depressing even from a rivals pov Razz

Varane from reading above is strangely under paid for sure, and even now at Man U hes still under paid it seems? I guess Man U are clever in the negotation or its just the state of the economics nowadays.

Exciting times for Man U indeed, sad times ahead for Real. Geez, all of a sudden, without every expecting, it seems Barca actually might have a chance of winning the league?

Has to be one of the flops of the season. can see why Madrid let him go and Ramos in the same summer. Washed up and just doesn't care.

He's been quite shitty.  But frankly, the entire Man U team has been shitty.  So I'm not sure the players are the problem.  No team cohesion... looks like they've played together for the first time every game lol.

Van Dijk's Lovren in all our run ins, above average defender covered by a World class partner and team.

That's actually very very false.

Varane was covering for Ramos and Pepe when neither could defend AT ALL.  It's only later on  that both Pepe and Ramos picked it up and became better defenders.  Frankly, Ramos was complete shit defensively until 2016.  Incredibly reckless.  His scoring was the redeeming quality.

Imagine covering defensively for Marcelo and Ramos.

Same with Pepe... completely reckless.  He woke up when Mourinho gave Varane the job.

Injuries have done Varane in.  He's lost pace due to it and reaction time.   He hasn't adjust to losing pace and quickness yet.  Shit defending partners at Man U hasn't helped. Not the same physical specimen he once was.

Understand but which injuries? He has only been injured while being at United. That does not mean he can't clear a ball straight.

Dude come on.  If you’re going to make a strong statement about someone, do a little research at least

Varane went through enormous injury struggles while at Real Madrid, starting almost from the very beginning of his career.  Hamstring (had a similar surgery to Dembele) and knees.   I don’t remember him getting through a season without injury in fact.

This guy was good for maybe a couple of seasons when he was still a teenager. Ramos made him relevant, could just as easily have been Vallejo and he'd done just as well. He should kiss ZZ on his forhead because without him he is an irrelevant defender.

That 3rd goal is typical Varane. So fecking passive, my word

Lost count on how many times he was subbed at HT with "gastroenteritis" Laughing maybe also the sole reason we lost against many big teams

I am glad he wanted to leave. Don't think i could've taken another season of him shitting himself when seeing Jesus lol

And Sports, you keep saying the same thing re Pepe. Varane was not playing with him. At the time we had Varane Pepe was playing his best football so it's untrue that he was "covering" for him. Pepe lost his place because Mourinho was a prick and got it back as soon as he left. Varane started playing when we decided to move on from Pepe after Varane threatened he'd leave if he wasn't playing and the rest is history

I am not surprised he's been found out in the PL without Ramos next to him

Varane has Always been terrible with ball clearance . It always ende up with opposition players i remember.

Still surprised about his continued poor form. He is default a very good defender and on form world class.

Glad to see Hala is still extremely harsh on Varane.

As for injuries, Varane has always been injury prone and for clearances, as Adit pointed out, he somehow had a wonderful ability of playing a clearance straight to the opposition.

Once he retired from France NT, i lost interest...  but knew something was wrong.  Not the kind of person who gives up on anything willingly.  A lot of knee and thigh problems over the years.  Lost a lot of pace as a result.  Played his heart out in the World Cup though (he literally collapsed during the final), which is a good way to end things.

As far as Man U... everyone struggles at Man U.  Even Casemiro is starting to tail off lol. I literally can't think of one player who joined Man U since SAF left and played better afterward.
