Re: Raphael Varane - Man United
Ole making Madrid look like a small selling club wow. They are literally strapped for cash atm and their deluded fans are dreaming of Mbappe and the likes.... This is not 2011 anymore, wake up.
On one hand you have broke Spanish and Italian teams trying to push the (failed) superleague concept as hard as possible with the support of EU courts. On the other hand you have state funded oil clubs and rich billionaires of EPL going ham on the market which ofcourse, is completely backed by UEFA.
Now this is a real war. I'm not sure who is going to win but one feels that this Arab-EPL alliance is going to change the landscape of football for good.

If that deal is to believed, it's a pretty good deal all around. Madrid gets a substantial amount for a guy on his final year, Utd get themselves a genuinely good experienced CB (very good if he can rediscover his previous form) and Varane gets his just dues in terms of wage and change of scenery.

Madrid heading into the season with a starting back four of Mendy-Alaba-Militao-Vazquez isn't something i would be content with if i were a Madrid fan, especially if the majority of my back 4 are relatively injury prone.

Re: Raphael Varane - Man United
We'll probably play Dani-Militao-Mendy-Alaba
Mendy has the traits to make a great CB, there are also reports that Carlo plans to play him as a CB. Then you have Nacho that can slot in anywhere, Lucas that can come in for Dani
We are set in defence even if Varane leaves. We probably need a better 4th CB than Vallejo but in crisis we can just move Casemiro back
Our biggest issue is goals. If we can nab either Haaland or Mbappe this summer and the other one next summer it will do wonders to our goal scoring issues

No one in Spain is nabbing anything apart from Audit reports, you and Barca might as well promote Pedro Narcos or whatever regen you have coming from the academy

Long overdue tbh.
Finally Spain has a league that actually reflects the country's economy.

Re: Raphael Varane - Man United
Yeah... the Mbappe to Madrid reports are overblown. Just can't afford him. And he wants to keep all his image rights in any deal.
Chelsea are offering 200 million for Haaland this summer apparently, which there's a decent chance Dortmund accepts.
Also, if he doesn't stay in Paris longer, Liverpool are allegedly offering a king's ransom to Mbappe and he has a pre-existing relationship with Klopp. I can also see Chelsea making a move for Mbappe if the Haaland one fails since Tuchel and Mbappe really got along at the end, after a very shaky start.
La Liga teams just cannot compete at this time. Maybe in 2-3 years.

Re: Raphael Varane - Man United
We've already freed up Ronaldo's wages and next summer we are finally rid of Bale's wages. Thats number 1,2 and 3 highest earners at our club gone. We won't have a problem paying Mbappe superstar wages. Business is Perez's specialty. And about image rights, Ronaldo the best player in our history couldn't even keep all of his image rights at any point in his RM career. Good luck to Mbappe if that's his demands which i doubt
Next season we'll be able to afford Haalands fee but that's if he is willing to stay another season at Dortmund. We are not broke like Barca. Just careful with our investments

Re: Raphael Varane - Man United
Just a wee bit of hatred for Perez or in farfan case seems like a hatred of Spain showing here. As Hala said, one club is literally broke and has real issues with operating budget limits for salaries, the other is just hurting re capital funding for investments THIS summer, but they have no issues re salary limitations. Sports may be right that we won’t get either, but IMO Sports has lost all credibility and i don’t trust anything he says especially when he says he has inside information. IMO, as long as Mbappe doesn’t renew with PSG, the odds are in Flo’s favour. And with Haaland, if he does move elsewhere, it has to be in next month, otherwise again, the odd’s are in Flo’s favour. Plus there still is an outside chance they somehow raise enough funds to obtain one this summer, but it is beginning to look like we wait until next summer.

Re: Raphael Varane - Man United
lol, we've been waiting until next summer for like 2 years. imo we dont get either, we dont have the money to throw around and players are not of that mindset of they have to play for madrid barca juves milan clubs anymore. we will keep our squad probably get bale back and flirt with some free transfers for older players ala psg with ramos.....i'm not saying haaland/mbappe wont come, but it will probably be when they are like 31 yrs old, and the pro madrid media will champion it with a headline like "madrid eventually always get their man" lol
in all seriousness, i'd recommend we not get our hopes up and go into this season expecting the same outfit, that's partly why we got ancelotti back. he understands he wasnt hired to make any squad demands and shud get the best out of what we currently have....the stadium is still being finalized, there may be a little money but i reckon it will go into that. unless i see flo holding up a player's jersey, i'm not catering to any rumors

Re: Raphael Varane - Man United
What a perfect example of cherry picking. That is the a classic example of taking a line out of a statement in isolation.
The rest of the story is the club is overstocked, something like 32 players and needs to get rid of several players and there is no demand for several of them. Unless they can successfully shed several of them, there is no room for acquisitions, available transfer funds or not.
The club strategy has been, they were banking on not only shedding these players, but also one of Mbappe or Haaland could be acquired this season and hoping the other one would be available next summer. It is looking more and more like neither will be acquired this summer.
But what is being stated about the club’s financial situation is completely wrong. There is an issue with capital funding because of both Covid and stadium. But all of that gets resolved in next season plus there will be a stadium sponsorship deal which will greatly increase the budgets. There are no issues with operating budget once stadium crowds return.

Re: Raphael Varane - Man United
PSG have a much better squad than Madrid right now. There's literally no point switching to Madrid. Perez would probably have to beg the Spanish government again to help them with their finances.
I mean look at that squad. A bunch of failed prospects and a couple of veterans in their twilight years. There's no Zidane magic anymore as well. Definition of a finished team.
Madrid need to look at more realistic prospects. Donyell Malen, Trincao, Justin Kluivert, Luuk De Jong etc and the likes.
Staying at PSG or moving to EPL would be a much much better career move at this point.

PSG are a team full of RM/Barca rejects and retirees. There is nothing to fear in that team

Lol, the names you mention are not better than Odegaard, Valverde, even Ceballos, Vinicius, Rodrygo, Asensio or Brahim and amongst them, only Odegaard, Valverde will likely be starters in the longer term.

Re: Raphael Varane - Man United
PSG and Madrid are both attractive destinations. Anyone on the planet would want to play for Barca or Madrid, even with the obvious decline and fact that they won't be sniffing european glory again anytime soon.
But yeah, I don't know about the financial situation for Madrid. Based on what we know, can't see them signing big money players anytime soon. Lingard is available though. Instantly improves you.

You mean Rafinha? He's the 5th or 6th choice CM after Verratti, Wijnaldum, Paredes, Pereira, Herrera, Gueye, etc.
Other than that, the only Barca/Madrid players are Di Maria, Navas, Neymar and Ramos. Are you saying these 4 aren't world-class anymore? Surely not.

Professional on and off the pitch. Thanks for your time with us. Good luck at your new club
Never really sold on him from the start. Glad we did the right thing

Yeah, I appreciate what he's done for us, but I think all parties involved will benefit from this transfer. He really hasn't been at the top of his game for us, over the past few years. I don't know if moving to a different club or league will fix that, but it's not our problem now.

Would take a not top of his game Varane any day over Lindesoft. So glad the latter won't be an automatic starter anymore
Hopefully Varane will elevate Maguire's game who I have seen become a completely different defender with a competent partner alongside him.
Thank you Real Madrid
