I agree completely. Modric and Marcelo are two of the first players we need to start phasing out (we've already started with Marcelo). Ramos too but he could still give us WC consistently as he strives to win the Balon d'or. He is the new face of Madrid now that Ronaldo has left. If we win CL he'll win Balon d'or 100%.

They are Madrid legends but we can't have 3 Rauls in one team or we'll struggle to finish top 4

Also what will be of Marcelo? Being benched 4 games in a row will be huge, he's bound to play at least a couple of the next 3 games. He should just stay away against Ajax. He can play the next two

nah marcelo can't start (i'm not worried about ajax, even during our crap spell, we should be able to handle them ). in el clasico, you need someone who can concentrate, marcelo cannot and add to that, he hasn't gotten ample game time, there's nothing he has done that should warrant a starting place

But the Atleti game just became as important as the Clssico after Atleti lost this weekend. And Marcelo should definitely not play that game. And 3 gamss in a row he sits on the bench will get tongues wagging

The man is not a bad footballer, he ain't a world beater like Dembele but he does competent things. Mind you, I'm still thinking about his Bordeaux days so if he has regressed (which I see no reason that he should), it's competent stuff.

I mean, I rather see Malcom than Dembele but he could cause issues if Madrid are not careful (which we aren't anyway).

We can do without Messi but not without Messi AND Dembélé. For Malcom it's a sink or swim situation now, he literally only started 1 league game and that we lost at home and only started scoring (3 goals) after he got subbed. Incredible lineup, Roberto usually does well in Clasicos.

On paper, with Messi out of the picture, Madrid has no excuse not to win this game.

We'll face them in the league edition and maybe the 2nd leg but today is a nice ease up.

We got rekt by players significantly less talented than Semedo and Malcolm in La Liga this season, Doc, so I wouldn't rule it out. But like Hala said, we're a different team now and we seem to have picked up momentum.

On paper, our guys have absolutely no excuse to lose this one. And if they do, they should really feel ashamed of themselves.

Feel ashamed? I expect Modric to clear up his locker, Marcelo to sell his house Solari to go where he belongs aka Juvenil A and Benz to jail. I went accept a loss today, nor against Atleti a few days later. I can accept a draw v Barca because we are two top teams and anything can happen but I won't accept anything less than a win against Atleti. So these guys better make up for the excrucuating loss, half season really we had to endure earlier this season
