Re: El Clasico thread
wow... look at the defense + vini/valverde to support Benzema
Honestly, it would be a miracle if we win.

Great setup by Zidane again. Conserving energy and just countering through Vini and Valverdes pace

Well after almost dying when Moriba hit the bar, this is a monumentous win.
However, our subs are trash. And our guys seriously need to be more clinical.

We could have scored more tbh, caught em on the back foot on at least 2 or 3 occasions in the first half especially.

Re: El Clasico thread
Benzema - 7.5 out of 10 would watch a replay on youtube again.
Benzema rolling back the years with this performance. To doubt Benzema's quality is to doubt Real Madrid. Vinicius and valverde pleases me greatly. Everyone did their job well. Shame about casemiro double yellow and nacho's 5th yellow but liverpool awaits.
We must make the most of this and ride our momentum as far as we can go.

After watching ZZ teams for several seasons now... we start the seasons looking like we belong in Segunda B, then we start looking ok in Jan/Feb... then we beat everyone in March/April/May.
It's like clockwork.

I certainly applaud Zidane currently and I am eating my crow.
Zidane's criticism was definitely fair, but when it comes to the big time I don't think anyone can say anything negative.

Same. I still maintain our squad lacks a certain type of coaching but my goodness, they are peaking exactly at the right time.
We haven't won a single thing yet but still, these wins are massive.

We thought coming into the season:
- Hazard would come back with a vengeance
- Odegaard would be great
- Jovic would be better in his 2nd year
- Valverde would take off
- Vini/Rodrygo would progress
- Varane/Ramos would carry the defense
- Kroos/Modric would continue to succumb to age
- Carvajal would be our starting RB
Basically... other than Courtois and Benzema, nothing went according to plan lol and we're STILL playing for the major trophies.
After Hazard and Ramos both went down, I literally expected nothing from this season.

Re: El Clasico thread
Vinicius was good, but if he could pass by ball or make better decisions, he would've been excellent.
Modric at 35, unbelievable. Great performance.
Kroos, different level.
Casemiro Great.
Nacho and Militao great partnership

That really is how the majority of our seasons have panned out under Zidane. The most surprising thing, to me, is that despite our periods of Segunda B- level football, we always seem to churn out relatively decent results. This was mostly evident when Ramos and Morata were consistently scoring last minute goals for us during our double winning season. God, the first half of that season still gives me nightmares.

Re: El Clasico thread
A lot of it has to do with our players getting older and having won everything... they just aren't very motivated during the "grind" months of the season.
Also, we try to rotate and experiment quite a bit early on. As luck would have it, none of our kids can really handle it. Ony in ZZ's first full season did we look good rotating because we had the likes of Morata, Isco, James, Asensio (pre-inury), Varane (when Pepe was the regular), etc. coming off the bench... basically, proper subs. The past couple of seasons, we have toddlers and scrubs for one reason or another.

Re: El Clasico thread
Zidane is also simply just the fucking wizard of Oz when it comes to big games and getting these guys to turn up an elite performance.
It’s really insane. These were by far the 2 most important games this season and he won both with flying colours. If I run a club and my manager does something like this in a down cycle with half the team injured, I make him sign an extension right away.
Even the toddlers and scrubs are doing just enough. I’m so proud of this team despite the obvious shortcomings. Honestly I would even renew Lucas at this point lol
