I would say that I don't want Conte anywhere this team, but I think he's the one who should be saying that now given how pathetic we are. And I wouldn't blame him.

You're wrong my friend, very wrong. This is not the same team and Zidane would've had a hard team winning without the guy who saved him countless times. He was one player away from being Lopetegui, and he was smart enough to see that and leave before it all went south.

And thinking that ZZ had no tactical acumen and somehow managed to win 3 CLs in a row and a La Liga is a GL numpty opinion...

Meh, in reality Zidane didn't work wonders with that team, they played like a complete pile of shit most of the time too, the relevant 'man manager' in this case was Uncle Flo managing the men of the RFEF-CTA and the UEFA Referees Committee

Now with VAR in La Liga, and then at some point also in CL, Real will need to employ a proper coach eventually

I don't think Ronaldo "saved" Zidane, correct me if I am wrong but many of the clutch goals came through midfielders and defenders. Especially Marcelo and Ramos. Ronaldo was just killing of scrubs and stat padding.
I still get where you are coming from though. You need a goal scorer more than anything. The way Madrid dominated the 15 or so minutes proves that it doesn't need overhaul. Just amendments in some critical areas, coach and striker being one of them.

Conte is an elite coach without a doubt. I had hoped they wouldn't go for him.

We're well set up for the 3-5-2 if we sign 1-2 CBs. 3-5-2 would have been great when we had Ramos, Varane and Pepe, I posted as much back when we were first linked with Conte before he became Italy manager.

It's like an airline company giving their pilot a hot-air balloon and asking them to outspeed an F-16.

I never thought I would see the day Conte, of all people, take charge of Madrid. But when everybody turns you down because of your shitty transfer policy and cheapness, it's only fair that you'll eventually end up with a guy who runs around like a child on the touchlines, hugs and high fives strangers in the stands.
