Athletic Bilbao v Real Madrid

I'm so tired of our midfielders being so reluctant to shoot from the outside. It's always a last resort.

Modric was close on the one shot, but even at that shot he looked around and it was obvious to see it was his plan B. Sometimes they just need to shoot right away.

Ramos might have his worst match of his career today. Only thing left is a red card to top it off. He sold his teammates on the goal, just stopped. He's also risked it all on every single attack by Athletic. He always stays 20m from his man and rushes towards the ball.

It must be incredible to play a defender like him who gives up so much free space every time.

The problem lies in the ball winning phase which is terrible from Madrid. Offense and ball movement are actually not that bad. We need a much better way to win the ball back. They are able to play out of pressure way too easily.

I actually liked those few charges he made. Not only does he force the opposition to put a defender on him, thus liberating a marker for either Bale or Benzema, but he's also a great header and there's a good to fair chance he might convert one of those Marcelo crosses into goals.

I didn't like his defending, but I wouldn't mind him going forward every now and then, especially when Benzema and Bale are in such a dormant state.

I’m speaking of him charging the ball on defense and leaving Varane alone.

It looks good when it works, but he’s done it a handful of times without any success.

I’ve liked his offensive runs, but it’s not exactly what he’s paid for.

oh my god that ball circulation in Bilbao's box was the stuff of champions...right before Lucas decided to shoot it into the seventh sky.

I really hope we win tonight, Bilbao really don't deserve to draw this one, let alone win it.

I disagree. He might come across as a scrub some times, but you really can't underestimate his contributions as a sub. He doesn't shy away from taking players one on one and his crosses aren't that bad. Not counting this one of course.

The only way for me to forgive Benzema for his performance tonight is if he scores a goal now.

I hope he does. We're desperately in need of our CF to score the winner now. Please prove me wrong and score.

Just look at kovacics performance today with Chelsea. our midfield did get owned like sports said. massive difference when modric and ceballos went off, particularly the latter who was our worst player.

Ceballos never pretended to be the same type of player as Kovacic lol, if that's what the coach is seeing, and i am fairly sure he is not, then that's his problem.
