Re: Inter are signing Modric and Vidal
This is a quote from the assistance director of Marca, Carlos Carpio: "Luka Modric has been one of the most important figures in Real madrid and is going to fight for the golden ball. Bale makes twice as much as he does, not being as important. Modric's agents believe that the time has come for his last important contract, with Madrid or not.

And he's absolutely right.

Re: Inter are signing Modric and Vidal
Inter would reportedly offer Luka Modric a four-year contract on wages of €11.5m-a-season.
The Nerazzurri have made the Real Madrid midfielder their number one target for the remainder of this summer’s transfer window, with an audacious transfer swoop planned.
Los Blancos President Florentino Perez last night stated he would not allow the Croatia captain to leave for anything less than an astronomical fee of €750m.
However, journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Perez’s position could soften once he has held face-to-face talks with Modric after this weekend.
The pair are said to be on excellent terms, with a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ possible if the 32-year-old expresses a desire to leave the Bernabeu.
And Corriere della Sera claims that if Modric does want to swap the European champions for Serie A, the Nerazzurri would be willing to offer him a deal to take him through until 2022 – with the potential to earn a total of €46m.
The Italian daily also states Inter would submit an opening offer of €15m to take the player on loan for a season, with the option to sign him permanently for a further €25m next summer.

Modric is 33 in one month with a contract running through 2020. Modric's agents have no legs to stand on. lol

Ronaldo had also no legs to stand on. His release clause was 1 billion and Madrid could've easily blocked the move, had they wanted to.
But Madrid don't hold players against their will. It's a known fact. If Modric asks to leave, he'll be allowed to, and for a sum considerably lower than his release clause.

I cannot fault him with this line of thinking. Not that he is getting chicken feed at Madrid but if he can make more money elsewhere, why not. His legendary status is all but sealed at Madrid and the club got his best years so, yeah, go forth Inter.
But kindly send Icardi the other way please.

Who would Real sign to replace him? No one. Sure, he's getting old, but it's not like he's showed sings or regression. Perez would need to be mad to sell Modric rather than get two more years out of him.

Re: Inter are signing Modric and Vidal
Madrid's midfield is probably the only part of the squad that most of us has no issues with. If Modric leaves then that leaves room for Kova to try to live up to whatever supposed talent he has. Also, there is still Casemiro and Kroos. In theory, Madrid doesn't need to find a replacement for Modric (there isn't one anyway). But in practicality, they'll probably try to go for someone like Thiago of Bayern or that Savic guy from Lazio. But in theory, that club would be fine without Modric. Somewhat.
Also, Modric only really came around sometime in January so the signs are very much there that he is slowing down.

Real Madrid with that Arsenal mentality, didn't think I'd live to see this day.

Re: Inter are signing Modric and Vidal
Considering you're comparing Xaka, Elneny and Torreira to Kroos, Casemiro and Thiago, yes, I could totally see the comparisons.
Shelvey to Savic is probably spot on though.

Re: Inter are signing Modric and Vidal
The point is, though, that claiming that Kovacic might be ready to fill the shoes of possibly the best CM in the world is just ridiculous.
Also, Shelvey >>>>>>>>>>>> Savic.

Re: Inter are signing Modric and Vidal
That still doesn't warrant the Arsenal comparison as the club still has World Class midfielders. I agree though, replacing Modric with Kova is kinda ridiculous but they (the club) believe in Kovacic's talents, apparently. And if Modric does leave/gets sold, without any signings happening, Kova would be the one who would probably feature more.
And yes, I agree with the last line.

Well I gotta give you a thumb for that last agreement. I'm sure Mole will, too.

Re: Inter are signing Modric and Vidal
There is no way real is going to be ok with replacing best midfielder in the world with a kovacic. It doesn't even work on paper. Either we change the system or we keep him.

Re: Inter are signing Modric and Vidal
Barca are paying Vidal 9m € net apparently, almost 50% more than he's getting now
And that after he suffered another near-career-ending injury to his knee this spring.
Good for him. Top player and I wish him all the best.

No way we should be going into another season with Benzema, Mayoral and Raul De Tomas as our CFs but here we are.

Re: Inter are signing Modric and Vidal
Modric will strongly enforce the gentlemen agreement with Perez. Inter are very serious about signing Modric from Real Madrid. But it will depend on the meeting next week. His agent is back in Croatia while the intermediary is still in Milan.

In a world where Modric goes for 50m and SMS goes for 120m. Yeah okay.

Re: Inter are signing Modric and Vidal
Pure BS. Why would Mendes get involved in a deal that doesn't include his clients? And btw in the end if such a deal happens Real will have -70m Inter -15 and Lazio will make a profit of +85m.
Can't see Real overpaying for Savic who's at the best is valued 70-80m max while Lazio will never pay 35m for Joao Scrubmario.

Re: Inter are signing Modric and Vidal
Modric wants a new Real Madrid contract. This is what this is about. When he comes back from vacation, he'll sit down with Flo and see if it can get done. If it doesn't get done, then Madrid fans should worry.... not now.

Re: Inter are signing Modric and Vidal
Still can't see it being the same situation like CR7. Real could afford easier Modric while I really doubt Inter can make a decent offer to RM (~50m) due to FFP also his improved wages will make him the most payed player at Inter making Icardi & Wanda sad and asking to leave.
I think Modric will get what he wants and stay at RM. Losing him would be a bad idea unless replacing him with Pogba.
