Who will go through
Re: WC 2018 | Round of 16 | England Vs Colombia
RealGunner wrote:BarrileteCosmico wrote:They did deserve something. They got screwed by a ref that was too proud or corrupt to look at VAR. What's the point of VAR if it's not going to be used in controversial decisions. Kane fouled him first, therefore it's 100% not a penalty. Other than that England generated nothing all game, just 1 shot from open play in 120 minutes, and they somehow "deserved" to go through?
This English arrogance must be stopped
It goes both way.
Referee gave that colombian scrub a yellow for headbutting (chest and chin) Henderson in the box but not a penalty. Didn't go to VAR either. seems legit. Headbutting is a straight red card offence.
wasnt gonna be a pen because the ball wasnt in play apparently, but yeah it makes 0 logical sense not to be given a red if he saw fit to give a yellow
that would have changed the game completely

Don't be ridiculous. THe ball wasn't in play. It was preparation for a free kick.
Never a red card either.
If that's a red card, Henderson's "head butt" later in the game would have been one too.
Typical of the English hypocrites to turn into clamoring crybabies and playacting pussies while else pretending to be the only tough and hard men left in the world of football.

I mean, Kane was already falling down, he could have easily let him go and even more importantly, Kane was NEVER getting the ball as it was clearly before it was gonna reach him unless he magically recovered from falling.
Nope, ride his back and bitch for 3 minutes. Even dig up the PK spot and pick a fight with Henderson.

Robes switched to Colombia when he found out Cambiasso was on the bench.

Imagine mentioning Henderson's headbutt, but not the headbutt on Henderson earlier in the game which was much more powerful.
So happy Colombia lost. Least sympathetic team I've seen.

I engaged in some pre-match banter but really I don't have a horse in this race. I rather like Kane and would much rather England win the whole thing than Brazil. I'm just calling it as I see it.Great Leader Sprucenuce wrote:BC trying to convince us he's a neutral lmao

Honestly, emotionally torn. Football needs to come home but your cousins could make history. Would make a Griezmann esque video about my decision who I shall support on the day. Instead of fortnite, it'll be League of legends though.

I mention it only because if the pundits cry "HEADBUTT MUST BE A RED CARD" no matter how insignificant the actual action, then Henderson would have to go as well.

Re: WC 2018 | Round of 16 | England Vs Colombia
RG, Mole, Firenze, Citizen Robes, even Unique
I've genuinely never experienced a high like that watching England. The football was shit, the subs were bad, the game was played in a bad spirit, we cheated, they cheated, we had okay moments, they had good moments, we went to penalties, *bleep* up the penalties, them somehow won... what a night.
Right, the serious stuff: Southgate almost blew this with his subs. We couldn't create in open play like I predicted, and Colombia defended our set-pieces really well. Kane gets us a pen for being wrestled in the box yet again in this tournament and we looked okay defending that lead. However, bringing on Dier for Alli made us too deep and defensive. By this point, Lingard had nothing left and it was really showing in his dreadful first touch. We had nobody to take us up the pitch and I really thought Loftus-Cheek would have been a better option. Rashford should have come on instead of Vardy as well, because Vardy is useless unless the ball is played in behind for him to chase.
The late equaliser destroyed us. Colombia were well in control of the first half of extra-time and should have won it there. That was their chance. We did well to recover our composure and control the second -half, but we still had problems creating anything worthwhile except for Rose's chance.
I didn't like the diving and fouling from us. I don't condone it at all. However, Colombia also spent a good portion of that game grappling in the penalty area, complaining to the ref, and playacting. Tunisia and Panama tried this against us as well and to me it's clear that teams identify this as a weak point for us, given our history in these tournaments. The whole thing seemed to stem from the headbutt on Henderson and our players calling for VAR and crowding the ref - not cool at all from us, don't want to see it even if there was a clear incident worth checking. After that, Colombia clearly wanted revenge. I thought the ref lost control of the game after that.

Colombia was like watching a whole team of Draymond Greens
Complaining about every single call, fouling hard every time, basically tiring out the referee so they won't be punished.
Disgraceful

I genuinely haven't been this happy over any football result in years.
I screamed so loudly my throat still hurts tbh, this is what football is about tbh not the fancy goals or the nice passes but the passion you show for your team that makes you actually cause bodily harm to yourself and others in celebration.
