Re: Cyberpunk 2077
The leaked conference call revealed that everyone in the company knew what a disaster the game was for last gen consoles and none of them were bothered by it.
There are 2 silver linings to it though
1) Game will be really cheap in 6 months and mostly fixed
2) The studio will make Witcher 4 to compensate for this

Takes longer than six months to fix something this terrible and Witcher 4 will be met with reservation after this.

If the executives let the developers be and give them as much time as they want then they will make a game as good as TW3 if not better.
I read that the studio is subsidised by the Polish government. Explains why there is such a huge influence of board over devs.

As i visit the Delamain HQ i was a bit paranoid, expecting i'd have to make a rampage there, looked 100% like a trap

Assuming all the bugs are fixed in a few months time, you'll have an amazing game and it will be probably cheaper too.
I lucked out and I'm loving it. Probably gonna get even better too with next gen hardware.
I guess I might replay it on PS5 when the next gen version hits.

I read about it somewhere else. Some of the devs are pissed off because they had to work 6-day weeks during prolonged periods of «crunch», just to see the game being released in it’s current state. Reportedly, the staff pointed out that the deadline was unrealistic, several months before they reached it and chose to release the game, anyway. What a shit show.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077
Developing a game with a complexity of a Cyberpunk 2077 is incredibly difficult. Debugging of all of the interactions in a huge world even more. These types of games require beta and alpha testing phases with fans who aren't the devs to see what can be fixed, for devs can't forsee or fix every bug by themselves. It didn't help they started with the development in 2013 (4 core Intel was standard, Geforce dominant etc.), the game is optimized for Intel+Nvidia but the consoles have got AMD CPU + AMD GPUs.
Anyway, they shouldn't have released the game for the previous gen. The game works on PC due to brute forcing with power.

Babun is right. I possess nowhere near the technical knowledge he does on this but Cyberpunk's downfall always was going to be their ambition if not followed through with.
A company the size of CDPR may have bitter off more than what they can chew but I have faith they can rectify this given the base game as proven IS very good.
Its why I respect Rockstar as their open world games are rife with details and supremely polished.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077
It certainly seems like a very good game, so far. I’ve also noticed a few examples of their attention to details, that I suspect most players will miss, but are pretty neat, nonetheless. I really don’t expect the quality of this game to be comparable with The Witcher 3, though.
Bugs, glitches, great design and fantastic writing aside, they seem to have cut a few too many corners to be able to match the quality that they achieved with their previous game. There are even a couple of signs that would indicate that they either cut some of the game’s content, or they left certain elements of the game feeling strangely hollow or open-ended.
Anyway, the game seems much more responsive, and runs much more smoothly since today’s patch was downloaded and installed. I’m just praying that the game doesn’t crash as frequently now. It seems to have added some minor bugs as well, though. I had to restart the game almost as soon as I started it, because the game wouldn’t let me exit the settings menu.
The quest tracker also seems to have glitched out on me, because it’s non-existent all of a sudden. Either way, I’m happy to see that their patch fixes actually have some substance to them. I can’t stress enough how much more smoothly the game runs now.

CDPR stock dropping another 9%, and company value is down 45% or 5B$ since release. Whoops.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077
my copy finally arrived 11 days after release, royal mail
some minor observations after around 3 hrs:
Game is fucking hideous on PS4, worse than I expected (on my 4K TV, blown up) textures are blurry af, pop in constantly, NPC's appearing like ghosts
had several enemies glitch out during combat, motorcycles raining from the sky, city is kinda lifeless
0 crashes pleasantly, story seems real neat so far

Re: Cyberpunk 2077
I suggest you switch off all visual effects on the menu. They are useless and crap.
Night City blows my mind every time. Not perfect but still a great playground. As i drive it seems a pandemic lockdown is occuring, but soon as i'm on foot there is a lot of people around.
Rincon and me are lucky as hell, so far i had just one big glitch, an enemy stuck in an elevator, couple of R3s in a row made him disappear

The most recent patch made the game more blurry for me, as well, but I haven't crashed once since I installed it, and the game runs a lot smoother, performance-wise. Consider yourself lucky, because blurry textures is a lot better than being constantly booted out of the game for no apparent reason.

It was on the frontpage of the largest newspaper here, as well. I can’t stress enough that it’s the technical issues that subtantiate the game being «bad», though. There are other indications that the game was released in an unfinished state as well, but there’s a lot of top tier story, content and design in there.

They deserve all the criticism. Not allowing any footage of last gen prior to release made me lose respect for them.Thimmy wrote:It was on the frontpage of the largest newspaper here, as well. Re: Cyberpunk 2077
They deserve all of the criticism they get, no doubt about that. I'm really disappointed with how they've handled this game, and never thought I'd say this, but despite being a CDPR game, I can't with a good conscience recommend for anyone to buy Cyberpunk 2077.
But the typical signs of a CDPR game are there. The game is a technical mess, and I wouldn't be surprised if they had to cut content short in order to meet the release deadline. Despite those issues, there are a lot of good things in the game that is being overshadowed by the criticism. The side quests are top notch, the writing is what you'd expect, and they've done some things very right. I look forward to being able to play the game on a PS5, after they've ironed out all of the crap that they chose to release the game with.
They may be shitheads for releasing the game in such a state, but their developers are among the best in the business.

Disable the first 3 graphics options (chromatic aberration, film grain, depth of field) although depth of field looks good for me. Turn on HDR if your TV has it and adjust the HDR setting in cyberpunk itself.

First crash since the 1.05 patch. It’s gotten a lot better since before the patches, but it’s frustrating that the game crashes when I’m simply roaming around and not doing anything specific. I don’t know how they’re supposed to solve the issue, if the issue is that the game is too taxing on the console.
