Considering it's Conte he's doing it he's doing it for defensive reasons.

All 11 players are midfielders and defenders, there's no false 9 here and there's no pretence to even think it is.

They'll pack the box and hope to stifle Barcelona and considering Barca's midfield they'll probably have quite a bit of success in doing so tbh.

Has nobody watched Barca this season? We do this all the time. Just bore them until the 70th minute and go to second gear. Maybe concede 1 (max 2) in the proceeding and then finishing it off.
