Buying the Xbox One was the second biggest mistake of my gaming life.

Was looking at the January sales on PSN, some interesting ones on there tbh.

Resident Evil 7 for 15, Life is Strange: Before the Storm for 13 and Wolfenstein 2 for 35.

Last one isn't cheap but it's the edition which comes with all the DLC, so I might do it anyway tbh.

Might get all 3 tbh.

i picked up Horizon + DLC for like 40 bucks in a store.

Yeah it's a mixture of factors tbh.

Console makers having their online store means they are incentivised to offer deals to their customers, shit tonnes of games being released meaning companies have to aggressively use sales to drive interest.

It's weird tbh, there's a load of games which release at full price but have no actual chance of doing well and they don't until months after the fact once they are put on sale.

I wouldn't be surprised if pricing structure changes because of all this, especially with complaints of how game companies are trying to monetize their games.

Finished RE7. The first parts were by far the best part of the game. Overall its not as good as 4 was but still the best RE game since that.

Playing the Not A Hero DLC which is free. Its great, has a totally different vibe to it but its still very much survival horror.

How difficult is it ? i don't feel like trying atm lmao.

Overall i'm feeling like buying it.

I played on Normal (highest you can go on first playthrough) and found it pretty easy, just scary. Resources like ammo and health are scarce so you need to be smart on picking your fights. A lot of times its better to run away. There's some hide and seek bits where you can hide to avoid fights.

so is anyone getting monster hunter world? I never even played the beta's but watched the new trailers today, gonna pick it up. 3 weeks. release snuck up fast

I didn't play the beta enough to get a proper feel for the game. I never quite managed to master the battle features properly and probably didn't experience much of what the beta had to offer. I read that the battle system involves a lot of timing and knowledge of weak spots on enemies, but I mostly just spammed the attack button and the special attack button. I recall one or two battles that were really fun. I was playing on the highest difficulty, together with a team of random people who all had east-asian names (Japanese, I think), and the rest of the team were pretty much carrying me through all of it But it was fun. My team members clearly knew how to work together, and they were even healing me although I was dragging them down and trying to figure out how to use my bow effectively lol. So, yeah.. I didn't play the game enough to form a proper opinion, but it looked really promising when team work and tactics were in focus.

If I remember correctly, RG played the beta for 10 minutes and then decided that it was shit. I rate RG's attention span higher than yours, and so you probably won't like the game. Just doing you a favor in suggesting that you skip this one and wait for the next OW update instead

I still might get it at a reduced price later on though.

apparently there's going to be a third (and final) beta on the PlayStation 4 running from January 19-21. I'll absolutely make sure to play it this time just so I don't waste the cash if I dislike it.

Unique: Have you experienced any motion sickness from playing VR games? I played for about an hour or two today. Skyrim VR was really fun. The VR experience really makes the game more immersive, and I worked up a sweat from swinging my sword at enemies using the motion controllers. Resident Evil 7 was genuinely scary and VR is likely the best way to play that game. Doom VR is the most fun I've had in a shooting game in god knows how long (Aim controller should be a requirement for this game), But after playing all of these games and pushing through the gradually increasing feeling of what can only be described as a mix between sea sickness and being drunk, I still haven't completely recovered half a day later. I definitely should've taken more breaks, pushing through the headache and feeling of nausea was a really bad decision.

Conclusion: indescribably fun and immersive at times, but the motion sickness ruins what would otherwise be a substantially superior alternative to traditional gaming. I might build up more of a tolerance for VR over time, but I like to sit down for more than 30-60 minutes at a time when I play games. I really hope they find a solution to the motion sickness in the near future.

I didn't like how clunky and boring the combat was in MHW. It felt like playing a shitter version of FF15 lol.


But it was the 1st beta and it had a lot of bugs so maybe the 3rd one is better.

Just finished Life is Strange: Before the Storm episode 1.

Reminded me why the original Life is Strange is one of my favourite games of this generation.

Glad to hear it's still good, voice stuff not throw you off? with the new actors

The new actress for Chloe does a great job tbh, there's moments where you notice the difference in voice but in the main it's not noticeable really and she does a great job character wise too.

I can't wait to see where the rest of the game goes.

Going through my backlog, playing:

-Overwatch

Gonna get Okami after Doom and 100% it, it recently got an HD release on Steam

I plan to do the same, once i'm done with LiS: Before the Storm i'll get on Resident Evil 7 tbh

Next couple of months is going to be dedicated to getting rid of 2017 backlog as i'll probably not buy much before March.

Obviously take some of it with a grain of salt because it's a very hardcore forum thus why there's so many niche games on there but it gives an idea regardless.

Only about 6 games on the list i'm definitely getting, so i expect 2018 to be much weaker than 2017 tbh.

Interesting list, surprisingly no mention of Anthem which is quite highly anticipated elsewhere

I agree, 2018 seems weaker than 2017 to me too but I think RDR2 will suck most of my gaming life anyway so I won't need filler games

They have only mentioned games which have a confirmed 2018 date, for example last years list didn't have Super Mario Odyssey because it wasn't confirmed for 2017 until January of that year.

I'm sure there will be other games which get announced this year and get released this year as well.

I'm with you on Red Dead though, that will consume me if it makes it's current spring date.
