The narrative that Spurs don't take Europa seriously needs to die.
It has nothing to do with them not taking it seriously. Yesterday they were knocked out when they played their strongest side. Every single starter was playing. Even in the first leg they played pretty much their strongest side.
They were knocked out by nothing club Gent or Genk (can never differentiate these two worthless nothing clubs).
Pochettino is a European fraud. Spurs are European chokers. They couldn't qualify from one of the easiest CL groups in years and now couldn't progress against Genk/Gent.
Stop making up excuses for them.

Re: The narrative that Spurs don't take Europa seriously needs to die.
Think losing to a nothing club like Liverpool on the lead up to the first leg unsettled the team tbh
but yes, Pochettino is certainly an over-hyped manager, I mentioned before that he has an infinitely better squad than Arry did and Arry had them beating the likes of Prime Milan sides and being competitive against Madrid in the CL knockouts while Poch has them crashing out EL against part time footballers.

Dat feel when you make up a narrative that doesn't exist to argue against a narrative which nobody actually argues for.
Nobody has said Spurs don't take it seriously lol.

There were some wise guy(s) here who i don't want to name that said Spurs would easily advance the Group stages because they play in a positive style or some such other bs

Are you *bleep* kidding me? You are blind if you don't see the narrative every year when Spurs get knocked out of EL that they don't take it seriously.
It's not necessarily just GL. I've seen it in other (bigger) boards than here as well.

Who cares. Some useless small club never achieves anything of worth. Major surprise.

Classic straw man fallacy. No one is pushing this narrative.

Honestly i feel you are getting confused between " English teams don't take it seriously " and " Spurs don't take it seriously"
The narrative for the most part that English teams haven't taken the EL seriously is 100% there and true, but Spurs specifically? i have never seen that personally and i'd say they are one of the few English teams that do take it seriously.

Yeah, Tottenham tried in Europe this season but they simply were not good enough. Poch ain't no fraud but he certainly doesn't merit the praise of being a top manager as their fans seem to like to bestow on him.
Certainly don't think there is any narrative for Spurs because everyone (bar Spurs fans) don't actually think them to be serious enough to warrant a narrative. A selling club which tries to buy its way to the top while having a mid level team mentality.

Nobody is pushing this narrative.
Nobody thinks Pochettino has been good enough in Europe. This doesn't mean he's a fraud
Terrible thread.

What does this say about Liverpool?
16/17: Spurs 3rd, Pool 5th
15/16: Spurs 3rd, Pool 8th
14/15: Spurs 5th, Pool 6th
13/14: Pool 2nd, Spurs 6th
12/13: Spurs 5th, Pool 7th
11/12: Spurs 4th, Pool 8th
10/11: Spurs 5th, Pool 6th
09/10: Spurs 4th, Pool 7th
Nearly a decade of underperforming the terrrible spurs

There's definitely a a narrative that says that they don't take it seriously. While that may or may not be true (I can't tell you what goes through Poch's head getting ready for these games), they've certainly underperformed in Europe.
Depends on how you define success. You've certainly gotten more top-4 trophies, but you've only reached 1 cup final in that span... which you lost.BarrileteCosmico wrote:Unique wrote:spurs are the reason wenger has lasted this long. no matter how bad things get at arsenal its allways worst at spurs.

Over the same period (largely recognized as one of the worst in LFC's history and the best in Tottneham's), Liverpool have played in an FA Cup final, 2 League Cup finals, and a Europa League final. Now, I'm not suggesting that reaching a cup final is the be-all-end-all for our club. But, at the very least, Liverpool have a trophy over the stated span, which puts the tally at 1-0.

No one talked about success though, just general performance. I agree that reaching more finals and winning one is being more successful though.
