Weigl vs Llorente
Both marca and now AS reporting that we have an option to sign Weigl, whatever that means and regardless of whether it is true or not, it's an interesting proposition.
Weigl is more of a mediocentro with superior on the ball presence, and great passing, he is a good young player. He is a also proven at top level to a certain extent.
Yet Llorente is homegrown, he doesnt really play mediocentro but he is a good player, albeit a bit unproven at top level, but again, he is homegrown.
If we have the option to get both next summer, knowing there is room for just one, who would you go with?

Re: Weigl vs Llorente
I think Llorente was the intended option for next summer when the transfer ban was to be on.
However, now that it's off, I think all bets are off, meaning they will reevaluate the needs.
Llorente is still developing and Zidane is showing that we can play without a DM most of the time and Llorente is not necesssarily a strickly DM.
So names like Weigl and Ceballos will come up. Also keep in mind that we will likely have another spot with James probably departing. Plus of course, retention of all of current roster will depend on what success or not team has by end of season.
Bottom line, way to early to decide and you can expect Marca and co. to come up with several more names.

Re: Weigl vs Llorente
Don't know Weigl but based on what i've seen and read on Llorente, it seems kinda inevitable for him to come. The peeps from Ecos Del Balon wrote an article on him, praising his defensive contribution but noting that he's got more to show creatively and that he's playing more conservatively as compared to Castilla games. I agree with this, he's shown potential for good distribution but his passes seem to tend to focus on the horizontal and reserved at times.
And isn't CM the spot that Kovacic is supposed to develop into in our team?

I follow Dortmund as I'm keeping tabs on Dembele... Weigl is an absolute phenom as a DM imo. Fantastic talent. He's on another level to Llorente in terms of pure talent.
I absolutely love him.

Agreed with Sports. Weigl is a fantastic prospect, miles above Llorente.
If we have the opportunity to go for Weigl we should go for it. If not then Llorente is the logical next option.

Yeah Spanish press still has a very strong sense of entitlement when it comes to who Madrid can sign or not. Let's just say that his name is on the table

Re: Weigl vs Llorente
Just renewed till 2021 though. And I can guarantee you they didn't include a Real Madrid 'option'
Obviously I can understand you might be going hard for him, but frankly I can't see him leaving for at least another one and a hlaf seasons.

Re: Weigl vs Llorente
No one is saying that he has a "I am going to Madrid" clause is in his contract. I'm reading between the lines here but what I think they are referring to are the good relationship between clubs. It's really pointless to talk about it though lol. I'm just happy our club knows who Weigl is

Re: Weigl vs Llorente
Yeah, it's pointless. Because Weigl will transfer in 2018 at the earliest, probably rather 2019 IF he's still wanted by the very top clubs by then.
And god knows how the politics of squad building at Real have developed until then.
