either the last guardian got a patch on release or reviewers grossly misrepresented its technical issues

runs like a dream for me, probably 80% through too, only noticed some minor, brief frame drops in a couple areas

some reviews I read made it sound like the game barely ran in places ffs

great game btw, could easily see it being my GOTY if it has a strong ending

that said, 1000000% not something I would recommend to 75% of gamers

why not? too much japanese input?

Reviewers said the same about Mafia 3 and i had no technical issues there either lol.

I tend to ignore reviewers when it comes to games i know i will like and they haven't been proven right very often, also i find that technical issues across the board for games are vastly OTT most of the time.

Ueda's games are an acquired taste, not many people like them with the exception of SoTC. Personally, i feel obliged to get it, especially since i played ICO at a young age, it connected with me emotionally. I'll probably get it sometime in the next year though, not in a rush

I wasn't super high on Ico, dropped it. But it feels like a perfect hybrid of Ico and SoTC, ES. You'll love it probably. Atmosphere and aesthetic is Ueda through and through.

RG, not really. It is pretty Japanese but it's just that it's very much a platforming game with a unique atmosphere, the average action gamer most likely won't have this click for them. Some really amazing moments in the game and it has elicited a bunch of different emotions from me.

btw RG I'm like 80% through the game and haven't got a trophy yet trophy list is very specific and a lot require multiple playthroughs, probably won't do a second play-through for a long time so doubt I'll get many.

also to touch on why I wouldn't recommend it to just anyone, the controls are quite heavy..like all Ueda games, they have a sense of realism to the movements that people won't be used to and it can lead to frustration at times, even for me. You have to exercise patience at times with this game and your average gamer won't be able to.

Also again..the atmosphere in this game is among the best I've ever experienced. Ueda might be the best in the industry in this. My new dream pairing would be him with fromsoftware designing a game with dark souls combat

Luckily i love platforming Especially those with puzzles.

Also Firenze is it true that a lot of the platforming isn't made very obvious like say Uncharted is? hope so tbh.

the puzzles are generally simple, the platforming is quite linear but very satisfying..watching Trico (the animal) make jumps never gets old and somehow always feels tense even 8-10 hours in

I've been left scratching my head a few times at how to progress in an area, also got frustrated a bunch at Trico thinking he wasn't moving correctly for me to progress since a lot of the platforming involves utilizing him too..but it always ends up that I was trying to get him to do something completely wrong lol.

platforming is certainly less obvious than Uncharted but definitely not complex

9/10, would be a 10/10 but the camera can be super annoying at times and just other minor technical niggles but nothing too serious

easily one of the most memorable and unique experiences I've played, awesome journey

Can't wait to play it.

Can see a big price drop around Feb so will get it then.

finished SoTC, dropped ICO early on becuase it felt outdated as f. This is basically a mash up. Can see why it was impossible for PS3 far too ambitious.

Found it better than SoTC

RG have you heard of this F2P game Let It Die (calma) that came out a week or two back on PS4? a lot of people saying it's quite similar to Dark Souls in terms of the atmosphere, how you approach combat

been watching some footage and it seems sort of interesting, don't usually check out F2P stuff but might check this out

Yea I am sure I mentioned it in this thread before. Reviews are pretty meh though.

But if it's F2P then worth a try.

hope you don't get spoiled in the meantime, there are some really memorable moments that wouldn't have the same impact, even though there isn't too much story thrown at you directly (although compared to his other games there is) dark souls creator was actually influenced by Ueda's games, he said they are what made him want to create his own games, so they share similar approaches to leaving a lot of story elements up for interpretation and how it's presented in general

also saw Neil Druckmann (Naughty Dog creative director) calling the game a masterpiece high praise from one of the best

you will get frustrated at times but the flaws are vastly outweighed by the great if you stick with it

can understand critics disliking the camera and 'clunky' controls (I was used to them from SoTC) but I'm 99% convinced, after reading a bunch of reviews, that so many people had the same issue I had - they blame the game/AI for things that are on them, there's a section where it's only briefly explained how to give specific commands to the animal, I had to look them up because I'd often ask it to do something that wasn't the correct way to progress and then blame the game. Once I realized that I stopped getting frustrated.

I know I'm still writing TL;DR about it here but, and I'm holding off from saying it with certainty because I'm still in that post completion honeymoon period - it's most likely going to end up in my top 3 of all time. Sounds corny but it's an experience you will remember for the rest of your life. Can't see anything imitating it with success.

Really hope Ueda keeps making games, I know he has his own company and left Sony but was still contractually obligated to finish TLG.

Saw him say he's interested in making a first person shooter though, ain't nobody etc

I deleted Let it Die after I downloaded 39 GB of 40+ in about an hour lol, honestly though it was like a 6GB game ffs, realized I'd probably never play it

x button on my controller feels sticky and messed up. Sony need to develop more possession friendly controllers imo.

Got WWE2K17, can't wait to get disappointed

It's not much different to last year from a gameplay perspective.

Key differences to me is multi-man matches are fantastic due to the roll out system and reversals are probably harder to time.

Although the additions to the roster and moveset does help too.

I mainly play Universe Mode, the rest is irrelevant IMO.

I'll probably get TLG after a price drop. I got Fifa and COD with the ps4 bundle but haven't opened them yet, wish it came with other games.

Uncharted 4 will probably be my next game. Now that I'm looking into ps4 games, is there a remastered collection for god of war? had an urge to play them again.

What are some must play on PS4? not interested in 99% of the FPS out there, only if they have more going on for them than the basics.

There's a remastered GOW 3, don't think the other two have been though.

As for must play games i'd say Uncharted 4 and Witcher 3(although be prepared to sink a lot of hours ), also have you played The Last of Us?

The others will depend on your taste IMO.
